About the Role
The Project Lead HDZEV, Integrated Markets plays a key coordination and leadership role in delivering high-impact programing to de-risk and accelerate the adoption of zero and low emission trucks for operators throughout the province. Reporting to the Managing Director, Commercialization & IP Programs, the Project Lead oversee activities within the Heavy Duty Zero Emission Vehicle (HDZEV) project under the Integrated Markets program banner, supporting its strategic direction, and driving project management, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery. As a part of the Integrated Markets Team and working alongside Portfolio Leads and surrounding team, this role combines program administration, project management, program design, evaluation, and partnership development. The Project Lead will be responsible for supporting, managing, and ensuring effective completion of program deliverables of the HDZEV program, while supporting the overall Integrated Marketplace and Innovate BC's program continuum. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in project management, ideally within clean tech, hydrogen and/or transportation projects. They will have experience delivering results in grant-funded or impact-driven programming, with a focus on operational effectiveness and measurable outcomes. Familiarity with Innovate BC, the Integrated Marketplace program, and other provincial or federal funding programs is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Project Management - HDZEV Integrated Markets
Develop and manage detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables. Ensure execution aligns with scope, schedule, and contractual requirements.
Identify, assess, and monitor project risks. Implement mitigation strategies and escalate critical issues. Accountable for maintaining a current risk register and ensuring proactive risk handling.
Track technical and performance KPIs. Collaborate with teams as appropriate to evaluate progress against milestones. Accountable for ensuring technical deliverables meet quality and performance standards, and associated reporting.
Manage project budgets in collaboration with Project Controller. Monitor expenditures and project cashflow and ensure financial compliance. Accountable for accurate financial reporting and staying within budget and in compliance with funding partner requirements.
Communicate regularly with stakeholders, providing updates on progress, risks, and financials. Accountable for transparent and timely reporting that supports informed decision-making.
Program Operations & Evaluation
Design and implement frameworks to assess project impact. Collect and analyze data to evaluate effectiveness. Accountable for the integrity and usefulness of evaluation insights.
Conduct in-depth analysis and share data-driven insights to refine operations and optimize resource allocation.
Produce evaluation reports and develop knowledge sharing strategy for stakeholders and future industry technology adoption. Drive learning and adaptation based on findings. Accountable for embedding lessons learned into future planning and operations.
Coordinate and lead planning and materials development in relation to the program's governance and engagement with funders.
Continuously stay informed about new programs and initiatives (provincial, federal, etc.) relevant to the Integrated Marketplace and the HDZEV program.
Identify and secure potential funding and partnership opportunities to support program growth and advancement if and where appropriate in conjunction with Managing Director, Commercialization & IP Programs.
Process Development & Standardization
Develop and standardize operational processes to optimize efficiency, accuracy, and overall program effectiveness.
Introduce continuous improvement practices and process automation to support Integrated Markets program growth and scalability.
Support the creation of materials related to program governance, compliance, and external communication, including data-driven insights for stakeholders.
Maintain CRM and research databases to ensure accurate, accessible information for program administration and reporting.

Position Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in engineering with a preference for chemical or mechanical disciplines

Certification:
Professional Engineering (P. Eng.) designation
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in project management plus portfolio or program management, ideally within a granting agency, clean tech, or sustainability-focused environment.
Sustainability & Program Design Expertise:
Proven experience in designing and managing sustainability-aligned programs with measurable impact.
Analytical & Process Skills:
Strong proficiency in data analysis, program evaluation, and process improvement tools.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Ability to build and foster effective relationships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, solution providers, and internal teams.
Communication & Administrative Skills:
Skilled in developing internal and external communications, along with CRM and reporting system proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP) or process improvement certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
Experience managing government or non-profit funded grant programs, including compliance and reporting.
Background in clean tech and sustainability regulations and industry standards.
