This position is part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Trust/Research Academic Staff Agreement, this position has a comprehensive benefits package and an annual salary range of $80,772 to $111,086. This position has an end date of March 31, 2027.

This role is currently remote with future option to be hybrid. Work primarily takes place at North Campus, Edmonton.
The Real World Evidence Unit, within the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, conducts high-quality, decision-grade research using real world health system data to answer questions that matter to health system decision makers, clinicians, patients, and industry partners. We are a core member of the Alberta Real World Evidence Consortium (ARWEC) and the Alberta Drug and Technology Evaluation Consortium (ADTEC), collaborating with provincial and national partners to ensure that health decisions are grounded in robust, real-world evidence.

The Real World Evidence Unit is seeking a proactive, collaborative, and detail-driven Project Manager, Research to join our growing team of health researchers dedicated to transforming how real-world evidence informs healthcare decision-making.
This role sits at the intersection of research leadership, health data science, and strategic collaboration. You will lead the development, implementation, and delivery of high-impact studies that use real-world health system data to generate evidence for clinical practice and policy decisions--shaping the future of healthcare in Alberta, across Canada, and beyond. This role involves strong public and private sector engagement, and ensures scientific rigor and operational excellence across multiple concurrent projects.

What You Will Do:
Lead with Science
Oversee high-quality real world evidence research studies.
Develop research proposals, protocols, and ethics/data access submissions collaboratively within the team.
Ensure scientific rigor, methodological excellence, and compliance with research standards.
Translate data-driven insights into reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
Drive Project Excellence
Manage multiple concurrent research projects--on time, on scope, and on budget.
Coordinate project planning, resource allocation, and workflow prioritization.
Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure quality across deliverables.
Create and refine standard operating procedures and processes to ensure consistency and excellence.
Engage and Collaborate
Serve as a primary liaison for internal and external collaborators, including clinicians, funders, and policy partners.
Build and sustain meaningful relationships that foster trust and mutual understanding.
Facilitate alignment and consensus among diverse stakeholders.
Represent the Real World Evidence Unit, ARWEC, and ADTEC in provincial, national, and international collaborations, and partner development.
Mentor
Supervise and mentor junior researchers, analysts, and trainees.
Foster an inclusive, team-based environment that values collaboration, respect, and open communication.
Support professional growth, skill development, and shared learning across the team.
Education & Experience
Graduate degree (PhD preferred) in epidemiology, public health, health sciences, medicine, or a related discipline.
Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in health-related or real world evidence research.
Demonstrated success managing complex, multi-stakeholder research projects.
Experience working with administrative or clinical data and familiarity with data access processes.
Strong publication record and demonstrated scientific writing excellence.
Skills & Competencies
Advanced knowledge of quantitative research methods and study design.
Outstanding writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Strategic thinker with excellent organization and project management abilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and reference management tools; experience with statistical software (R, SAS, STATA) is an asset.
Proven ability to lead through collaboration, influence, and respect.
