The opportunity:



As a member of the Aurora Modernization Project team, implementing a transformational upgrade to UM's Student Information System (SIS), the Functional Analyst works closely with IST and oversees work done by Project Support Analysts. The Functional Analyst is responsible for responsible for new solution development within the project scope, including identifying, proposing and implementing system enhancements, building technical solutions, setting up and modifying SIS functions, detailing business processes and requirements, and developing test plans and transition strategies.

The qualifications and experience we're looking for:



A Bachelor's degree, preferably with a major in management information systems, accounting and finance, business administration, public administration, computer information systems or a related field, or equivalent is required. A minimum of three years of directly related experience with enterprise systems in higher education, business analysis, gathering requirements, and documenting workflows is required. Experience in the functional configuration, modification or maintenance of complex relational databases, required. Experience in creating and documenting test cases, test plans and conducting testing is required. Experience with business processes improvements is required. Experience working with BPMN (Business Process Notation) is required. Experience training and supporting system end-users is required. A successful track record of forming relationships and working with others across departments and within teams, required. Must have expert level knowledge in student information systems.- Knowledge of fundamentals of change management, process improvement and communications is required. Experience in interpreting rules, regulations, and business processes at the University of Manitoba, preferred. Experience configuring Banner or equivalent student information system, preferred. Experience with academic advising, registering in a post-secondary institution and room booking is preferred. Knowledge of goals and objectives of university academic records functions preferred. Knowledge of University of Manitoba's curriculum and courses preferred. Knowledge of complex higher education student information systems design and operation preferred Knowledge of fundamentals of functional systems analysis, configuration and testing and methods of developing operational process specifications preferred. Knowledge of principles of reporting using sets and subsets preferred. Knowledge of professional standards for key business systems and procedures, and methods pertinent to assigned area including laws, ordinances, codes, and regulations (FIPPA/PHIA) related to student systems information processing preferred. Knowledge of principles of program documentation and training preferred. Knowledge of business process mapping and re-engineering preferred. Knowledge of the inter-relationships of campus departments and the basis of faculty specific policies and practices preferred. University of Manitoba governance and the RO's role in its application preferred. An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Proficient with MS Teams, productivity apps, presentations (PowerPoint), word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), databases (Access), e-mail (Outlook) is required. Proficiency in the use of a relational database is required. Ability to describe complex processes using business process mapping techniques is required. Ability to learn the characteristics of new systems and update skills to adapt to changing technology is required. Ability to initiate work and mentor others is required. Ability to influence change and manage resistance to change is required. Ability to work effectively, both independently and collaboratively is required. Ability to establish and meet priorities and project schedules is required. Ability to show good situational judgment in an academic environment is required. Ability to interpret and apply applicable rules, laws, and procedures to student systems operations is required. Ability to present and lead discussions, chair meetings are required. Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail with frequent interruption is required. Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
