Job Description

Flamboro Technical Services is a well established, custom machine and fabrication shop engaged predominantly in the food processing and packaging industries. The Mechanical CAD Detailer will work with Project Designers to create detailed shop drawing packages and drawings for customer approval. As this role develops, the CAD Detailer will be involved with concept designs and costing activities, create take-offs and use CAD to create designs. This role leads to the position of Project Designer for an individual that is capable of growth. Initially, the chosen individual will be able to manage small projects, and follow up to support shop activities as they pertain to design, manufacture of product. Provide problem solving support to Project Management and Manufacturing. A qualified candidate possesses at least 2 years of CAD experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience working in a job shop/ custom manufacturing setting is an asset.

Responsibilities:

Develop and prepare detail designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, and site visits Operate AutoCAD and Solidworks to produce technical drawings for manufacturing and vendor processing Site visit at customer location to assess customer needs and provide viable solutions Oversee Project from Concept to final integration and training Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets and manuals Work within our ERP system to establish project estimates, purchase, customer correspondence etc. Write technical reports and manuals Prepare contracts and tender documents. Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates.

Qualifications & Experience:

Completion of an engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering/technologist. 2+ experience as a Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Draftsperson, ideally in the food industry Ability to use Solidworks efficiently and knowledge of AutoCAD 2D Experience of GD&T Strong understanding of custom metal fabrication, machining and conveyors

Experience using MS office and associated programs Strong communication skills (oral and written) amongst internal and external contacts Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
