This position will provide technical support to the LDC expansion project currently underway in at the canola crushing facility in Yorkton SK.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Participate actively in the routine engineering meetings to help validate scope and support LDC design-related decisions. Challenge designs to satisfy day-to-day safe operations
  • Prepare, review, and validate plans, specifications, and cost estimates for different packages, while considering constraints of budget, schedule, and quality limits
  • Work with equipment vendors and ensure that the pieces of equipment in scope are satisfying the industrial applied codes and standards. Review and validate shop drawing process submitted by contractors before fabrication starts.
  • Coordinate and work with LDC technical team to review the process P&IDs, PFDs, heat and mass balances, process narratives, etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee various disciplines involved in the project. Work with the construction manager to ensure contractors are having a clear understanding of their assigned work
  • Review and validate lists of equipment and quantities in both procurement and construction packages before final procurement execution takes place
  • Review developed RFP (Requisition For Proposal) packages made by the procurement team and address gaps or overlaps with other packages
  • Assist in the technical direction and training of engineering and operations personnel, while providing operational guidance to technical and professional staff as needed
  • Attend daily construction meetings to support any and all design issues, delays and challenges by the contractors or project team and assist to resolve these issues quickly to expedite construction works.
  • Review designs, and applied codes and give feedback to the involved engineering disciplines
  • Receive RFI\xe2\x80\x99s from contractors and attempt to process them onsite first. If the site cannot answer them, process them through the appropriate engineering departments and expedite their closure to limit delays and impacts to the project. Assist project controls as it relates to questions regarding validation of installed quantities as a secondary check of the contractors\xe2\x80\x99 progress.
  • Champion safety onsite and participate in field routine inspections with the safety team to meet the requirements of the LDC contractors\xe2\x80\x99 safety program
  • Review engineering designs and evaluate, with the construction manager, any constructability or optimization that may be had to improve the schedule, cost or safety of installation.
  • Support, review and confirm the accuracy and validity of contractor red-line drawings and help facilitate the as-built drawing process through the respective engineering firms.

  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and 3D model developing software is an asset
  • Adaptable, and able to work with many different personalities and procedures
  • Detail-orientated, with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work independently and manage various daily requirements
  • Ability to thrive in all types of work environments (colder temperatures with appropriate PPE, climbing stairs & scaffolds, occasionally lifting and pushing up to 50 lbs)
Qualifications

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses
  • Post-secondary education in the field of Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial).
  • Eligibility for registration in any Canadian Professional Engineering Association (such as APEGA or APEGS) is a preference.
  • Varying levels of Engineering will be considered (Engineer-in-Training, Professional Engineer, etc.)
  • Project Management designation is a preference
Experience
  • 6-10 years of previous work experience in project management/project engineer roles.
  • Previous work experience in agricultural construction projects is preferred.
  • Previous work experience on a construction or industrial expansion project is preferred.
