We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution Projects Department. Under limited direction of the
Section Head, will provide supervision for reporting staff in addition to project management services from the initiation phase through
closure of assigned projects. During execution of all project phases, will be accountable for activities related to estimating,
scheduling, design, construction, and commissioning on assigned strategic and complex projects and will provide project
engineering expertise related to Transmission, Distribution, HVDC and other projects, financial, and resource issues to project
participants.
Responsibilities:
Provide leadership within the Transmission & Distribution Projects Department, working closely with all Section Heads and
leaders to advance the practice of project & program management, support strategic priorities and promote a ONE project
team culture. Supervise and mentor project staff including staff officers, project specialists and Engineers.
Responsible for the management of capital projects such as distribution, station, transmission, HVDC, and other complex
projects as assigned.
Lead multi-disciplinary project teams in the design, procurement and construction of transmission and distribution plant and
facilitating discussions between project participants, both internal and external, to proactively manage project issues and risks
and seek out opportunities for efficiencies.
Responsible for ensuring the final product meets technical requirements including assisting stakeholders with the assessment
of complex/unconventional deviations to the technical scopes of work, project estimates and schedules, safety, and
environmental requirements, and make recommendations on how to deal with their impacts. Prepare capital project reports as needed for a variety of stakeholders, such as; variance explanations, outlook forecasts,
yearend forecasts, project reports and summaries, memos, and lessons learned. Lead, and provide input to, the development of CIJ (Capital Investment Justification) and CIJ Addendums including scope,
schedule, risk and cost estimates. Provide project management expertise to support project participants regarding interdisciplinary engineering, planning,
procurement, financial, safety, environmental, property, construction, commissioning, close-out and resource management. Provide leadership, direction and mentorship to project stakeholders in the management of a project's estimate, technical
scope of work, procurement and execution strategies, schedule, human resource requirements, risk assessment, quality
requirements, environmental and safety initiatives. Participate on or lead committees that help shape the goals, procedures and practices of the Section, Department and
Division with regards to project management. Qualifications:

Graduate in Engineering from a University of recognized standing, with a minimum of seven years related experience
including three years' experience in project management and administration and two years of supervisory experience. Professional member in good standing with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (or willingness and ability to attain within a
specified amount of time). Sound knowledge of fundamentals of electrical, civil and mechanical disciplines.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge and application of Project Management theory including scoping, estimating, scheduling,
procurement, cost control, risk management and change control in an engineering or construction environment.
Experience related to projects associated with transmission, distribution, HVDC or natural gas plant operation as it relates to
design, construction and commissioning activities would be considered an asset.
Strong computer skills including experience with scheduling software and the Microsoft Office suite of software. Experience in
the use of SAP and P6 to oversee capital budgets and schedules would be considered an asset.
Demonstrated high degree of initiative, and ability to maintain working relationships and interact effectively with others at all
levels, both inside and outside the corporation.
Additional formal project management training/education and/or PMP or other similar certification would be considered an
asset.
Ability to lead, direct and motivate personnel. Proven organizational, interpersonal and leadership abilities. Experience in
performing supervisory responsibilities such as conducting performance reviews, personal development plans, interviews, and
discipline, would be considered an asset.
Thorough knowledge of Corporate policies, procedures and regulations, including Corporate safety & environmental policies
and the Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act and associated regulations. Must obtain and maintain a current Personal Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba
Hydro policy P513. Must have completed Standards of Conduct training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date.
Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
May be required to travel by all modes of transportation i.e., air, land and water.
NOTE:
May be required to work at other locations within the province, and where transportation between these sites may be by small
aircraft. Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $51.34-$70.34 Hourly,
$98,380.88-$134,784.78 Annually.
