  • As a member of the Corporate Project Engineering Group, the IT/OT Integration Automation Engineer will be responsible for the management of automation projects for system integration, and IT/OT architecture, and develop best Industry 4.0 practices.
  • They will also be acting as the departmental technical expert regarding Control engineering, productivity, and HSE.
  • Ensure standardization of Control Equipment and Protocols.
  • Keep up with industrial standards for Automation and digitalization.
  • Provide insights into solutions and how-to, improvements, connectivity, and applications.
  • Liaison with IT departments to keep a robust, resilient, and secure OT architecture.
  • Ensure Disaster recovery plans guidelines are met and plans to mitigate risks.
Principal Responsibilities
  • Participate in the elaboration process of the automation strategy for Automation, considering IT/OT integration and Industry 4.0 solutions and standards.
  • Capture internal requirements and establish the associated specification documents.
  • Participate in the equipment purchasing process. Meet with suppliers, analyze proposals and make recommendations on the solution choices aligned with Aliaxis Automation and Ind. 4.0 roadmap.
  • Active involvement in follow-up and review of the design work done by vendors.
  • Plan and manage the installation and commissioning phases in our plants, while ensuring that the corporate health and safety standards are observed.
  • Ensure the quality, conformity, and safety of the automated equipment, before and after they are delivered and installed. Support the PATC (Process Acceptance Test Criteria) for FAT and SAT.
  • Follow the financial situation of the projects and help in justifying automation projects.
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of departmental engineering methods.
  • Act as a departmental technical reference regarding, Controls engineering, productivity, and HSE.
  • Lead or realize some modifications and optimization of existing production processes in molding, extrusion, fabrication, packaging, and distribution.
  • Act as a change agent within the department and the plant.
Requirements

Qualifications & experience

Technical skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in project management focus on an automated manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in controls, electrical, electronics, industrial, or production engineering.
  • Member of the 'Ordre des ingenieurs du Quebec' or the Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Be available and willing to travel outside of the metropolitan area about 30% of the time.
  • Has a valid driver's license in Quebec or Ontario or the US.
  • Vast experience in warehouse automation, Manufacturing Automation, quality control systems, Safety standards, continual improvement, Robotics, PLCs, and Networks.

  • Capacity to learn in a changing and technological environment.
  • Skilled communicator, with strong teamwork values.
  • In-depth knowledge in Mechanical/Electrical/controls engineering, manufacturing logistics, quality control, and HSE standards.
  • Writing skills to prepare specifications and validation documents.
  • Capability to read, understand and approve plant layout, CAD designs, and process schematics.
  • Comfortable with software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Middle layers, PLC, Robot control, Java, HTML, IoT, and Office suite.
  • General knowledge of robotics, mechanical concepts, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
