We are currently providing an opportunity for a well-rounded, technical minded, customer satisfaction focused professional to join our team in the position of Project Engineer. This role will perform a wide range of duties and oversee the planning implementation and tracking of specific projects which have a beginning, an end and specified deliverables. The role will be stationed at our Corporate office in Truro, NS with the option to work remotely when not traveling to operation sites.

About the Position:

The Project Engineer will be responsible and accountable for planning, implementation and tracking of specific projects which have a beginning, an end and specified deliverables. Engineering is strategic to Inland\xe2\x80\x99s overall success. The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project;
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project;
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities;
  • Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion;
  • Manage project staff and/or contractors according to the established policies and practices of the organization;
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project;
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization the progress of the project;
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards;
  • Write reports on the project for management and stakeholders;
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures;
  • Prepare budget reports and supporting documentation;
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality;
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase;
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Please Note: Approximately 15% to 20% of time will be spent traveling including overnight travel.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree;
  • At Minimum 3 years of Engineering experience relating to the development of mechanical, chemical and/or electrical industrial equipment and systems;
  • Engineering related field experience;
  • Direct experience with formal project management practices considered an asset;
  • Intermediate computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator with the ability to interpret information, promote and execute ideas;
  • Ability to acquire and maintain eligibility for international travel;
  • Position requires ability to be escorted to secure areas of airports;
  • Highly motivated, self-starter, with the ability to manage several competing tasks and demands simultaneously.
