Summary:

The Project Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Compression will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to engineer, design, and build the compression equipment platforms supporting our customers and operations.

Reporting the Engineering Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Equipment, this position is part of the Engineering team and will provide technical, operational and product guidance on mechanical, instrumentation and automation aspects of gas compression equipment. With responsibility for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, safety standards, safe operations and best practices of the CNG equipment, the Project Engineer \xe2\x80\x93 Compression will play a key role in the development future compression equipment designs, and optimization of existing equipment.

This position is based in our Calgary corporate office with travel to shop and field locations as required.

Schedule:

• This position holds normal business hours.
• We support a hybrid work environment consisting of flexible remote and in-person collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safety Champion:

• Help promote a proactive and positive safety culture within Certarus.
• Equipment Design and Support:

• Contribute to new product development, and optimization of existing equipment.
• Develop, update, and maintain project drawings and documents for fabrication.
• Specify and procure critical parts and manage key supply chain efforts.
• Support efforts to maintain production schedules.
• Product Support and Development:

• Support commissioning of new equipment to verify quality control and that each unit meets all functional requirements.
• Identify key equipment failure trends and develop corrective actions.
• Work with the team and/ or equipment supplier to improve reliability.
• Visit domestic suppliers for expediting, inspections, quality audits, or any other business needs.
• Lead miscellaneous initiatives optimizing equipment reliability and uptime in the field.
• Operational Support:

• Provide technical expertise to resolve field-level issues within the CNG delivery platform.
• Visit facilities and/or customer sites as required.
• Support Operations in identifying and procurement of critical spares as needed.
• Development of Safe Working Procedures, equipment manuals, training materials, or other documentation relevant to mitigating safety risks or improving Certarus\xe2\x80\x99 operations.
• Train new and veteran field staff on the existing and revised procedures as we mature processes within the company.

Requirements:

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Engineering.
• 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in natural gas compression (CNG), process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation design and engineering of equipment.
• Experience with compressor package design, piping, electrical and control systems is an asset.
• Aptitude and desire for hands-on work combined with strong analytical skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team, fast-paced environment.
• Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
