The Project Director forms a key part of Glenmore's Project Delivery Team throughout project planning and execution. The Project Director plans, oversees, and supports project managers as well as the project through engineering, drafting, fabrication, and construction, to ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and on budget. They are responsible for designating resources, preparing budgets and reports, scheduling, and keeping all stakeholders engaged and informed through the project life cycle.
Duties and responsibilities
Reporting to the General Manager, the Project Director is responsible for:
- Cost, quality and delivery performance of assigned projects
- Scheduling of Drafting, Fabrication, Construction and QC/Inspection on assigned projects
- Change Management - Managing contract information and related revisions on assigned projects
- Coordination with Drafting, Production, Safety & Field departments
- Managing Safety Plans and erection procedures for assigned projects
- Provide expertise and direction on constructability, design, and value-add items
- Overseeing Shop Drawings, RFI's, Meetings, and client correspondence
- Proactive and timely client communication regarding project progress and issues
- Direct customer relationship development through professional service and engagement
- Customer satisfaction on assigned projects, and customer relationship development
- Providing reports and regular updates to the Project Delivery Manager on all assigned projects
- Overseeing site inspections, QC, and associated reports
- Performing on-site reviews and meeting with client representatives on site for active projects
- Serve as a role model for safety-oriented behaviour, contributing to Safety culture and actively encouraging safe work practices.
- Managing Documents, Schedules, and Assigned Tasks to Project Managers.
- Training and Mentoring Junior Staff - Identify areas of personal career development and assist with the development of junior employees.
- Monitor all projects and support Project Managers in resolving any issues.
Skills and Qualifications
Mandatory experience and qualifications
Min 5 years previous experience in a steel fabrication industry
P.Eng, (min 2 years), or C.E.T (min 3 years)
Experience with structural steel fabrication and/or erection
Able to interact effectively with customers, shop and field personnel, management and project managers
Experience with reading Architectural and Structural Construction Drawings and Details
High degree of organization and management experience
Able to work independently and in a fast-paced, schedule driven environment
Well organized and capable of multi-tasking
Able to communicate clearly and succinctly. Strong communicator, written and verbal
Construction Site Safety knowledge
Additional preferred qualifications
Experience with Scheduling Software (MS Projects or Sim.)
Previous work experience with a general contractor, sub-contractor, or consultant
PMP or associated Project Management Designations
Working conditions
The majority of the work will be performed in an office environment; however, the successful candidate will be required to visit field construction sites on a regular basis.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate for the Project Director role has extensive knowledge of structural steel, at least 5 years of project management experience, a keen interest in coaching and developing junior staff and a track record of successful project delivery. The individual will thrive in a team oriented, multi-disciplinary environment where time and cost pressures are the norm. The individual will enjoy managing client expectations and be able to demonstrate a track record for successfully managing client relationships and expectations.

Pay: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
