Role Status:

This is a newly created position

The Look Company is seeking a highly skilled and meticulous Project Designer to join our team in Barrie, Ontario. This is a position ideally suited for candidates with a background in Industrial Design, Architectural Technology, Mechanical Drafting, and or related technical design fields.

This pivotal role requires a unique individual who can master both the creative and technical ends of the project lifecycle: developing initial design concepts and translating those concepts into clear, actionable, production-ready manufacturing documentation.

Expert proficiency in the following software is required:

Solidworks; 1 year (required) Adobe Illustrator / Creative Cloud; 1 year (Preferred for Assembly Instructions Creation) Keyshot (valuable asset for Rendering / Visualization) AutoCAD / DraftSight (valuable asset for 2D Drafting) Other programs used in the design team, Revit & TwinMotion (valuable assets) Proficient in using Microsoft Office, World, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

JOB DUTIES (INCLUDE AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO):

The Project Designer's responsibilities span the entire project lifecycle, from initial ideation to final manufacturing specifications, assembly instructions, and include, but are not limited to:

Technical Drawing and Documentation

Create production-ready manufacturing drawings of design concepts for pricing, fabrication and client review. Develop detailed shop drawings specifically tailored for manufacturing processes. Create comprehensive manufacturing specifications and accurate bill of materials (BMOs). Liaise with our Product Design and Production team members to determine best methods and materials for manufacturing Create and maintain all of The Look Company's assembly instructions for current, future and custom products.

Design Concept Creation

Develop and iterate on innovative design concepts and solutions for visual engagement products, working closely with sales and the design team. Present design visualizations and proposals to internal teams and potentially to clients.

Collaboration and Support

Liaise closely with our Product Design and Production team members to determine the best methods and materials for manufacturing. Provide essential support to the design, engineering, and production departments where necessary. Perform other special projects or duties required that are in line with role competencies or skills.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

A diploma or degree in Industrial Design, Architectural technology, Mechanical drafting, or a closely related technical design discipline. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical design, drafting, or manufacturing-focused role. Proven ability to develop creative concepts from scratch in addition to creating production drawings. Strong ability to listen, understand objectives and translate design concepts into reality for production purposes Ability to analyze, compare, and interpret detailed and sometimes poorly defined information; and capable of making sound and accurate judgments based on best available information A team player willing to support other company staff as required Capable of handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail. A calm and efficient individual who is capable of working under tight and changing timelines. Organized and capable of establishing an action plan for executing their work. Deadline driven and capable of holding themselves and staff to specific timelines. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or with a team. Experience in detailing store fixtures and display would be an asset Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and finishing aspect of metal, textile, and plastic fabrication would be an asset. Design: 1 year (preferred) Must have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines and budgets. Confident in reading, understanding and creating simple line drawings Ability to learn new applications quickly.
