MAIN PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator is responsible for managing and delivering activities, tasks, and projects. The Project Coordinator will work with the project team (other Project Coordinators, Superintendents and Manager) to deliver and execute the project plan and ensure project deliverables are met.
This position offers developmental opportunities in understanding the railway methods of estimating, purchasing, negotiating, contracting, railway construction, cash flow, shipping/receiving and transporting in the railway industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Assist in managing activities of multiple projects at different stages of completion, while providing ongoing communication to the project team. Work with Project Team to ensure that company objectives for customer satisfaction, safety, quality, production, revenue and profit are met within a specific time frame Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its core values Work with Project Team to obtain Critical Project Documents (necessary permits, submittals, sub-contractor documentation) required by the contract specifications or client. Monitor projects daily and record production and job costs into the project management system. Track and report on project activities, tasks and provide Project Progress Reports as required. Identify any issues and/ or changes in the scope of work to determine if there is an opportunity or need to submit a Change Order Request to the customer. Identify resource requirements, set expectations (provide direction) and monitor progress. Assist in the coordination the delivery for project activities and project performance; complete a Project Close out Report to identify final changes in work scope, additional revenue opportunities, punch list items and any hindrances that may delay close out and final payment. Submit invoices and collect payments from the customer as necessary. Update and maintain customer/contact database for all contacts associated with any project, existing customers, sub-contractors, prime contractors or any other parties that may influence or impact A& B Rail Services success. Manage employee accommodations. Inputting of employee hours into time sheet system. Responsible for qualification compliance of employees on a specific project. Management of materials and consumables at the job site. First review of Safety/Equipment documentation for a specific project. Maintaining the project repository on the network. Responsible for the management of controlled documents. May perform other related duties, as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES


Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills Strong computer skills are required with proven proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project) Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule Effectively motivating people and maintaining effective relationships with clients, owners and consultant. Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, investigate the underlying causes and identify short and long term solutions Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment Effective and proven organizational skills to meet multiple deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a high pressure and demanding work environment Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment Demonstrate ability to perform maturely and professionally ensuring complete confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act logically to evaluate situations, solve problems, and make decisions
JOB REQUIREMENTS


Degree and/or Diploma in Engineering or a related field is preferable. 1 year of project coordination Courses in Project Management are considered an asset. Working towards a Project Management Certification and or a Professional Designation. May need to work weekends and weeknights, depending on project. Must be willing to work away from home on an as per project basis.
