This includes but is not limited to government wide property leasing and management, real estate acquisition for major capital and infrastructure needs, the disposal of real estate, road and property investigations, and advisory services for real estate matters.About Our OpportunityReporting to the Director of Real Estate, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the Real Estate Division in the delivery of concurrent capital projects for Public Works and client services. This position will involve working on various real property projects of high complexity requiring a strong understanding and application of real estate practices and policies.The Project Coordinator supports the planning and administration of the projects, actively researching, analyzing, and interpreting land and real property requirements. The position coordinates client needs and relationships within the Department, supports in communications, procurement and budgeting, tracks and coordinates land access requirements, and supports management and project leads on real property transactional related requirements /conveyances.Primary AccountabilitiesThe primary accountabilities of this position are:

  • Gathers, reviews, and interprets related information and resources for the preparation of legal documentation for real property transactions, including purchase and sale agreements, statutory acquisitions, easements, leases, licenses, property access agreements, submissions to Executive Council, and correspondence.
  • Works with senior management, project leads and staff on project-by-project deliverables for land requirements.
  • Provides project file management for major acquisition and linear corridor projects on a concurrent basis.
  • Monitors project budgets and forecasts through timely and effective coordination and analysis of expenditures to produce financial reports.
  • Under the direction of senior management, develops information for procurement of services including tenders, requests for proposals and standing offers. Assists in the preparation, evaluation and award of tenders.
  • Provides technical real property expertise including (but not limited to) working directly with internal/external clients, various departments, landowners, the public, and service providers (such as lawyers, surveyors, consultants) on real property transactions.
Qualifications and ExperienceThis may be the right opportunity for you if you have a bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a business-related field and minimum 1 year of related experience in real property transactions; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.You must be familiar with and/or have a working knowledge of property law, land registration systems and property online, and municipal, provincial, and federal jurisdictions and responsibilities pertaining to land. You are familiar with the current government regulations and statues such as, but not limited to, the Land Registration Act, Public Highways Act, Expropriation Act, Crown Disposal Act, Nova Scotia Land Surveyor\'s Act and Environment Act.You should have a good understanding of legal descriptions, records managements as well as knowledge or an understanding of survey and right of way plans.As travel is a component of this position, you must have a valid driver\'s license and ability to travel.You must be a strong communicator, both oral and written, with strong attention to detail allowing you to conduct detailed research, prepare legal documentation, and manage files. You take initiative and you work well independently and in a team environment. You also utilize sound judgement and tact when dealing with a variety of stakeholders. Your have organizational and planning skills that allow you to multi-task while adapting to a fast pace environment staying in line with the department\xe2\x80\x99s goals and objectives.We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.EquivalencyAn equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Equivalencies include, but are not limited to:
  • Completion of a 2-year diploma and 3 years of related experience
