This position works in the Parks Operations - Supervision organizational unit. This is technical and administrative work in coordinating design, construction and development projects in Parks Operations. An incumbent of this class coordinates construction and development projects; prepares work plans, cost estimates, reports, budgets, project specifications and related documents; hires and oversees work of contractors and consultants; conducts field inspections; liaises and consults with a variety of internal and external contacts. Considerable independent judgement and action is exercised in carrying out the work while discussing more difficult and unusual problems and policy matters with a supervisor who reviews work for conformance to established standards, achievement of objectives and effectiveness of services rendered. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include diploma program in building construction technology or landscape architecture including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus sound related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Considerable knowledge of methods, practices and materials used in construction of outdoor parks assets, landscape and infrastructure projects as related to the work performed; of construction terms of reference and contracts including MMCD and CCDC2 documentation; knowledge of safety practices, regulations and requirements. Ability to estimate time and material requirements and cost related to project proposals; to monitor project budgets, to review project progress, and to approve change orders and contract payments; prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and various other material related to the work; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts. A Driver's License for the Province of British Columbia is required.
This is a Temporary Full Time position until December 11, 2026.
