Job Description


The position reports into the Director, Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT), and provides support for the on-going daily operation of the center, its 10,000 sq. ft. studio space, and its innovation support activities. Based upon specific responsibilities assigned by the Director, the incumbent provides support for the management of interactions between clients and researchers, promotion of innovation activities and scheduling, and project development and implementation. This includes assisting with partner/client engagement in a variety of different ways including support for client visits and other events and activities at SIRT\'s stage. The incumbent helps coordinate project activities and will work closely with other members of the operational, project management and applied research teams at SIRT, as well as Sheridan\'s Generator Support Office to ensure project documentation will meet funding audit requirements.

Located at Pinewood Toronto Studios in the heart of the city\'s film and television studio district, SIRT is a premier destination for applied research, training, and other innovation support activities for the screen-based industry (digital film and television, gaming, virtual and augmented reality, interactive media). Key technology application areas include virtual production and virtual humans. Innovation support also extends to the application of screen industry technologies within the performing arts and other sectors.

What You\'ll be Doing

  • Arranging meetings by coordinating schedules and access booking rooms;
  • Coordinating and managing project documentation, internal files, project files, correspondence with clients in areas including but not limited to business development and operations;
  • Creating standardized templates, letters, etc. for research projects and ensuring that all proper procedures are adhered to;
  • Attending and assisting with key project meetings, on site events, external events at which projects are being represented;
  • Supporting hiring and onboarding of student researchers;
  • Attending and taking minutes at team meetings, in addition to assisting with meeting logistics;
  • Supporting maintenance of SIRT\'s 10,000 sq. ft. sound stage through co-ordinating supplies, repairs and maintenance and co-ordinating with vendors;
  • Helping with event registration by organizing lists and ensuring participants are given appropriate information;
  • Initiating project purchases following approved purchasing guidelines, reconciliation of monthly credit card purchases and assisting centre staff with expense claims;
  • Assisting the Project Manager/Lead in planning, coordinating and tracking functional team activities, timelines and deliverables for each project;
  • Liaising with Sheridan\'s Generator Support Office and other departments at Sheridan as required;
  • Performing other initiatives and activities as required.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • The successful incumbent will possess a 3-year diploma/degree in Business Administration, Human Services or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years experience in organizing and filing of data (or an equivalent combination of relevant education or experience).
  • Knowledge of innovation needs of the screen industries preferred.
  • Must be able to work in a Microsoft Office and Apple Macintosh based environment.
  • Experience with project management tools and concepts would be an asset.

Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm
