About the Organization


The Faculty of Dentistry has received funding from Health Canada to implement and evaluate a multi-year project aimed at "Developing an Inclusive, Patient-Centered Oral Healthcare Model for Canadians Through Evaluation, Education and Hands-On Training". The goal of this work is to enhance training for both dental hygiene and dentistry students and practising oral health professionals to better serve Canada's diverse population through inclusive, equitable, patient-centered oral healthcare. By engaging both patients and providers, the multi-component project will further clarify barriers to care for specific populations and develop interventions to better prepare dental professionals to provide effective care to the diversity of the Canadian population. An imbedded developmental evaluation will support the development and implementation of all aspects of the project.


Job Summary


The Project Coordinator will support a large project team by organizing project activities, tracking progress, managing documentation, and facilitating communication amongst the project team and external stakeholders. The coordinator will have a key role in ensuring team members have information necessary to carry out the project including relevant policies from the funder, institution, and project steering committee and to facilitate team members in meeting project goals. Given the scope of the project, the coordinator can expect to navigate complex demands and workflows to optimize the project teams' time and to advance project priorities. This role requires a strategic, forward-thinking approach and the ability to operate as a central point of contact with significant autonomy.


Key Responsibilities


Coordinate internal and external communications across project team and stakeholders. Track project budgets and expenditures and ensure alignment with relevant policies. Monitor timelines and deliverables to ensure alignment with project goals; provide support to ensure these are met. Liaise with Evaluation Consultant and others as required to proactively identify and communicate risks to successful project completion. Maintain project documentation and SharePoint site following Dalhousie guidelines. Prepare documentation and reporting as required for funders and partners. Organize meetings, prepare agendas, and follow up on action items.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.


Required Qualifications


Undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health Sciences, Education, Business Administration), with a minimum of three years experience in project coordination with demonstrated evidence of experience supporting complex/multi component projects. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple expectations, work independently and take ownership of tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
