Project Coordinator - Engineering & Construction (RFP 25-170)
Location: Bowmanville, ON (100% Onsite)
Position Overview
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our team as Project Coordinators supporting the Darlington site.
In this role, you will assist project leaders and senior management in coordinating and executing multidisciplinary engineering and construction projects. You'll support all phases of project delivery -- from planning and procurement through execution and closeout -- ensuring adherence to project management governance, safety standards, and operational excellence.
This position requires strong technical aptitude, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment within Canada's nuclear energy sector.
Key Responsibilities
Support Supervisors and Project Managers in organizing, coordinating, and executing assigned projects within established scope, budget, schedule, and quality parameters.
Assist in applying approved project management processes, including phase-gating, scope and schedule control, estimating, cost tracking, change management, risk management, and performance reporting.
Participate in the preparation of project documentation, including project charters, business case submissions, cost estimates, and progress reports.
Support contract and procurement processes -- from request for proposal (RFP) coordination to vendor evaluation, award, and monitoring.
Liaise with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure effective communication and alignment on project deliverables.
Monitor project performance and provide updates on cost, schedule, and scope changes; identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
Coordinate meetings and maintain communication with internal stakeholders, field operations, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Assist in preparing project turnover documentation, ensuring all records, deficiencies, and corrective actions are tracked and completed.
Support adherence to project governance, safety, quality, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in site visits, inspections, and contractor progress reviews as required.
Outage Control Centre (OCC) Assignment
This role includes assignment as a Project Representative within the Outage Control Centre (OCC), which requires:
12-hour rotating shifts for the duration of the 2-year assignment.
Office-based work with regular site walkdowns.
Site-security clearance at Darlington Nuclear Generating Station.
CSA-approved safety footwear (green triangle + white omega symbols).
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Additional coursework or certification in Project Management or Business Economics is an asset.
Experience:
2-4 years of progressive experience in project coordination, project controls, or construction management within the power generation, energy, or heavy industrial sectors.
Familiarity with project management principles, including initiation, planning, execution, and closeout phases.
Experience with cost accounting, scheduling, estimating, and change management.
Knowledge of contract administration, quality assurance, and health & safety regulations.
Ability to interpret technical documentation, track progress metrics, and prepare detailed project reports.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Requirements
Must be capable of working extended hours and shift rotations as project demands require.
Must maintain compliance with corporate, site, and safety policies at all times.
Willingness to visit various project and supplier sites, including potential travel within or outside Canada.
