The Individual Learning Modules Office is responsible for the creation, maintenance, and distribution of all Individual Learning Modules (ILMs). ILMs are standardized learning resources for instructors and students in apprenticeship, trades, and technical training courses. Based on the Alberta apprenticeship course outline, published modules provide apprentices with current, standardized learning materials that meet or exceed Alberta industry standards. The ILM office, both a learning resource development and publishing team, manages ILM content development, product creation, publishing, and product distribution.

The ILM Project Coordinator reports to the Manager Product Development and Publishing within the ILM office and is primarily responsible for support and coordination of ILM content development projects.

ILM content development projects are curriculum development projects, where the primary deliverable is to create and update learning content, both written and visual (images/graphics), across multiple ILMs within a specific trade. The content development life-cycle includes four phases; Planning, Development, Publishing, and Quality Assurance. Working with the Manager Product Development and Publishing, the ILM Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating successful delivery of project deliverables/goals through all four phases of the content development life-cycle including assigning and tracking project tasks, resources, timelines and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement ILM projects through the ILM Content Development Lifecycle; Planning, Development, Publishing and Quality Assurance. This will often include multiple content development projects running simultaneously.
  • Support development of, and subsequently coordinate, all aspects of project plan development including scope, risk, budget, quality, change management and communication.
  • Prepare and track project artifacts and documents in the ILM project management software system.
  • Prepare and reconcile project budgets and invoices in coordination with the Manager Product Development and Publishing for accurate project budget management.
  • Manage and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are effectively tracked, communicated, monitored, and implemented.
  • Participate in and/or facilitate project-based meetings.
  • Assist and support the ILM team with the implementation of process improvements, digital content strategies and program performance standards.
  • Prepare project status reports and maintain updated project documentation.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Practical knowledge of Project Management tools, PMI methodologies and best practices (i.e., project charter, Gantt charts, stakeholder management, results tracking).
  • Ability to plan and manage various learning development projects simultaneously and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and correctly identify and prioritize critical organizational and project tasks.
  • Ability to provide basic project education and coaching to teams.
  • Desire to partner with stakeholders and work collaboratively as a member of the ILM team.
  • Experience moving learning projects through planning all the way through to final delivery.
  • Sound judgment to assess needs and troubleshoot performance or process issues.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills with the ability to effectively lead project meetings.
  • Confident, thoughtful, self-directed, and enthusiastic team player who is able to influence outcomes.
  • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Enthusiasm and appreciation for good humor/fun.
Qualifications:
  • Related post-secondary diploma
  • Bachelor's degree in business or business administration is preferred (but not required)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset
  • 5+ years in a project coordination, management, or leadership role successfully delivering projects while maintaining effective stakeholder relationships
  • Experience (2+ years) in product development, educational publishing and/or educational content development is an asset.
  • 3+ years experience working with digital publishing platforms and eReaders is an asset
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Monday.com software or similar Project Management software is an asset
Remuneration: $2,320.28 - $3,109.48 bi-weekly plus comprehensive benefit package. (Classification - Coordinator l).

This position is covered by the AUPE (Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement.
