ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Reporting directly to the Directeur Construction and based out of Taschereau, Brossard the Project Coordinator, Construction Division, will assist with overall project performance and status from start to finish and in accordance with schedule, specifications and budget. The Project Coordinator will work collaboratively and have the required support to ensure that project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards comply with company policies and that contract requirements are met. The incumbent will be responsible for an array of Project Coordination functions focusing on safety, quality, and cost management, proactively communicating and keeping stakeholders well-informed of progress, discrepancies, questions, and impacts on project plan and schedule.

This position will appeal to a person who enjoys working with people and appreciates variety in their work. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with an innate ability to work independently and demonstrated proactive approach to task completion. This position requires flexibility; the ability to meet deadlines and deliver outputs within a short time, with competing priorities. Customer service orientation, coupled with detail orientation that presents in the form of a high level of accuracy, efficiency and confidentiality is critical to success. Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Health & Safety

  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with applicable Health Safety Environment legislation, and company policies and procedures, contract requirements, and Black & McDonald policies and procedures
Project Planning, Monitoring, & Support
  • Assist the project team to ensure project objectives, schedule, budget, cash flow, policies, procedures, and performance standards are met in accordance with company policy and contract specifications
  • Participate in the planning and preparation of construction schedules, as well as critical stages of the project and monitor progress against milestones and established timelines and in accordance with corporate policy
  • Track, interpret, analyze, and report on project data
  • Maintain departmental and network databases as required to ensure records are kept current and accurate
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control programs
Project Estimating & Finance Support
  • Participate in the analysis of budgets, the projection of costs and margins, as well as the estimation of changes and impacts to the project
  • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholders including Black & McDonald team members, clients, consultants, joint venture partners, trades, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and the community, while keeping them informed of relevant information
Stakeholder Management
  • Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients
Project Administration
  • Assist in preparing contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Participate in document control, archive project activities, deliverables, tools and findings for use in future projects
  • Purchase supplies and materials that are required to complete the project
Operational Support
  • Coordinate workers from different trades and subcontractors
  • Other duties as required
EDUCATION and SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or diploma in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, estimating, project management, construction engineering technology; applicable experience as a tradesperson may substitute for education requirements.
  • 1 to 4 years of relevant experience with construction, mechanical, electrical projects.
  • Intermediate skills in Foxit PDF, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint); Basic skills in Adobe InDesign or similar publishing application also considered an asset.
  • Bilingual in English and French would be considered an asset.
  • Basic skills in Project scheduling, planning, and execution, Project structural design interpretation, and interpreting Financial
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal Construction support activities may require client site visits, and construction site visits
  • Normal Construction support activities may require working outside of standard business hours.
