Project Controls Specialist

Job Description

WestCorp Solutions is seeking an experienced Project Controls professional specializing in Cost Control to support a large-scale capital project based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project cost systems, forecasts, and reports to ensure accurate and timely financial control throughout all project phases.

Location:

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8-hour days

Contract Length:

Initial 18-month term, with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities:



Develop, maintain, and monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports. Track commitments, actuals, and forecasts to support cost performance analysis and trend reporting. Provide accurate and timely cost reporting to support project decision-making. Prepare variance analyses and present results with explanations and recommended actions. Collaborate with project management, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to manage and control project costs. Create work packages and requests for proposals (RFPs) for procurement purposes. Administer change management, cost trending, and forecasting processes to maintain budget integrity. Support month-end close and financial reporting activities, including accruals and reconciliations. Review and validate contractor invoices, purchase orders, and commitments for accuracy and compliance. Maintain data accuracy across project cost systems and ensure adherence to cost management standards and procedures.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree or diploma in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 7 years of experience in project cost control or project controls, ideally supporting large industrial or major capital projects. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Project, Planisware, Oracle, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with scheduling concepts and their integration with cost control activities is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience in forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting for complex projects. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across teams. Highly organized with proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Professional designation such as AACE CCP, PMP, CPA, or equivalent is considered an asset.
