JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Project & Control Engineer/Officer based at our Timmins, ON Headquarters.

Reporting to the Section Manager, this position is responsible to contribute to Ontario Power Generation by coordinating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders. You will be required to understand schedules, finances and required performance for the assigned projects.

Key accountabilities include providing recommendations on scheduling, finances and required performance for the assigned projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • As a project team member responsible for coordinating, facilitating and driving the Front End Planning Process
  • Prepare Risk Management plan with support from other project team members
  • Develop WBS based on statement of work scope
  • Develop and maintain updated and accurate planning phase schedule
  • Perform monthly schedule updates and cost analysis
  • Perform cost management for projects in accordance with OPG\'s project management governance
  • Create and issue timely project status reports
  • Develop and maintain program level schedules
  • Ensure approved change control processes are followed
  • Prepare and obtain approval of applicable change control documentation
  • Facilitate and support project financial close out process
  • Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures
  • Assist with development and continuous improvement of the project controls information system
  • Maintain document project file which provides and auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle including project approvals, change control and close out.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Applied Science
  • PMP, CCP, PSP are considered strong assets
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum 6-years of experience on project controls practice such as project scoping, risk management, estimating, budgeting, scheduling and cost control
  • Scheduling background preferably in Primavera P6 is a strong asset
  • Clear understanding of project controls principles, theories and concepts
  • Project management experience within a Hydroelectric generating facility an asset
  • Experienced with engineering and construction management concepts, methods and techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver reports, briefings, project plans
  • Good organizational and leadership skills, and to be a self-starter who can work both independently and in a team environment that is dedicated to project excellence and best practices
  • Have a strong interest in fast-paced, challenging work environments where showing initiative and self-motivation are assets;
  • Strong in understanding, executing and following governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimum required supervision
  • Proven track record on delivering results.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment. (for hybrid roles only)
