Leading societies to a low carbon future, Alstom develops and markets mobility solutions that provide the sustainable foundations for the future of transportation. Our product portfolio ranges from high-speed trains, metros, monorail, and trams to integrated systems, customised services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility solutions. Joining us means joining a caring, responsible, and innovative company where more than 70,000 people lead the way to greener and smarter mobility, worldwide.

Imagine playing a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada\xe2\x80\x99s busiest public transit system and doing so with a consistently ranked Top Employer with a global reach. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems, maintenance, and much more.

Objective

The train movements are controlled by Automatic Train Control (ATC) System in a safe way. The Trackside ATC is responsible to send to Trainborne ATC the track conditions that allow entering in a given segment. Those conditions could be: point machines at right position, track clear, speed restriction, route set, etc. The Trainborne ATC compares the information received from Trackside ATC against train actual conditions (speed, position, track, direction) and can restrict its movement if there is any risk to go over a safe limit.

European Train Control System (ETCS) is the ATC solution chosen for GO Expansion project.

For the ETCS onboard design, the Project ATC Leader is responsible to deliver the ATC sub-system approved by the customer, respecting the project QCD, during the project life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable to deliver ATC Quality, Cost, Delivery commitments
  • Being the direct technical interface with the customer for ATC Engineering
  • Provides ATC functional and architecture specification, ATC detailed design and ATC configuration. Provides corrections during and until customer acceptance
  • Provides Signalling \xe2\x80\x93 Rolling Stock interface specification, until mutual agreement from both engineering entities
  • Make sure technical design is consistent
  • Contribute to the definition of the functional validation phase of the sub-system (Integration & Validation and Factory Integration & Validation Plan)
