About the Employment Opportunity: The Newfoundland-Labrador Federation of Co-operatives (NLFC) is seeking a Project Assistant to support the development, communication, and execution of in-house projects.
The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with the NLFC team and program stakeholders to foster strong communications. They will support the overall performance of in-house projects, including keeping track of costs, schedule, deliverables and feedback from stakeholders.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Support the Co-operative Development Officer in coordinating tasks and schedules.
Assist with documentation, reporting, and record-keeping throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare meeting agendas, take notes, and follow up on action items.
Maintain project calendars and track deadlines.
Communicate with team members to relay updates and gather information.
Assist in preparing presentations, spreadsheets, and reports for stakeholders.
Organize project files, contracts, and correspondence.
Monitor and update project management tools/software.
Perform administrative duties related to procurement, invoicing, or resource tracking.
Identify and flag potential issues or delays to the Co-operative Development Officer.
Education/Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or related field.
Experience of 1-3 years in an administrative, coordination, or junior project support role.
Experience in nonprofits, co-operative or community organizations considered an asset.
Skills Required:
Competency skills in organization, coordination with stakeholders, time management, communication, attention to detail, teamwork and collaboration, and problem solving.
Technical skills in Microsoft Office, budgeting, expense tracking, and financial literacy.
Strong digital skills including experience using online meeting/education platforms such as Zoom.
Ability to work as part of a team or independently, with sound judgment and the ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent attention to detail, which can be showcased by ensuring mention of your favourite book in your cover letter.
Ability to write comprehensive and succinct documents and reports.
Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
Experience using MS Office Suite, such as Outlook, SharePoint, and Forms.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively.
Effective communication skills, including, verbal, written, and editing skills.
Professional, dependable, positive, and collaborative spirit.
Must have your own reliable transportation and be willing to travel.
Salary and Benefits
$45,000 with one 2% increase for inflation during contract.
Immediate access to 15 vacation days annually, plus statutory holidays, with Christmas holidays off.
Monday to Friday work schedule. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
After 6 months' probation, entitled to group insurance benefits including life, dental, vision and extended health.
After 6 months' probation, RRSP matching contribution.
