Job Description

Irving Equipment is currently seeking applicants for the position of PROJECT ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE to join our fast-paced, dynamic team in Saint John, New Brunswick.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop budget projections to identify and quantify critical budgetary, cost, schedule, technical, and risk factors.
• Issue project cost reports including forecasts for final costs and variances. Flag significant projected over-runs or under-runs. Provide customer with regular Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports.
• Attend regular cost report meetings and provide supporting documentation.
• Develop, track, and produce a cost savings tracker to be presented to customer.
• Verify accurate billing for all on site activities by verifying invoices for accuracy. Ensure coding and allocation is accurate. Verify overhead charges and their distribution. Create super reports / batch sheets.
• Manage Purchase Order with customer and own the change process.
• Use accounting software to create work order, PO, for 3rd parties and track to close.
• Manage/rectify payroll issues as they arise.
• Assist with quote creation as required.
• Confer with site operations to determine status of assigned work.
• Coordinate/manage progress and performance data.
• Attend operations meetings and period/mid-period review meetings as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Post-secondary diploma or degree (project management, finance or business preferred);
• Experience performing financial analysis, cost management, scheduling and other project controls functions over the life of a project would be considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of the regular financial processes related to a construction or engineering project would be considered as asset.
• Strong computer skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or MS Project skills.
• Knowledge of project management techniques and experience in cost monitoring, analyzing and reporting would be considered an asset.
• Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change.
• Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
