Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant interfaces directly with the project team and finance, providing trusted insight into the financial health of a project. The primary focus of this position includes evaluating construction job cost, data reporting/analysis for management, financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting and revenue recognition. The Project Accountant assists with administrative functions of project-related assignments including payroll, invoicing, overall planning, tracking and documentation of one or several projects from the project proposal phase to the project closeout.

Key Responsibilities:

\xc2\xb7 Project Setup - upon project award, responsible for coordinating the job setup within the SAGE 300 including cost codes, cost categories, budgets, and all necessary job information

\xc2\xb7 Provides project forecast reviews, utilizes historical and trending data to validate forecast and follows Company standards for cost and revenue reporting

\xc2\xb7 Oversight of project daily accounting including labour timesheets, equipment hours, salary overheads and payables

\xc2\xb7 Shows eagerness to learn the ins and outs of the field operations to better understand and communicate financial reports and data

\xc2\xb7 Supports Operations team with decision making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities

\xc2\xb7 Prepares client invoicing/billing, manages accounts receivable and revenue and reviews project cash flow projection on a monthly basis

\xc2\xb7 Maintain knowledge of prime contract and change orders, including insurance, taxes, payment terms and bonding requirements

\xc2\xb7 Follows and recommends proper internal controls where necessary and acts as main point of contact for any internal or external financial audits

\xc2\xb7 Drives continuous improvement throughout the organization and is a proponent for positive change

\xc2\xb7 Earns trust, credibility, and buy in of processes from Operations team to create better cohesion and clear communication within the organization

\xc2\xb7 Displays first-rate customer service skills - willing to help with a positive attitude when/where needed, and be helped with gratitude

Qualifications/Requirements:

\xc2\xb7 Bachelor\'s degree in accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree

\xc2\xb7 At least 3 years of project financial/data analysis experience

\xc2\xb7 Knowledge of accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax

\xc2\xb7 Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel while working knowledge of Sage 300 ERP system (Real Estate & Construction) is an asset

\xc2\xb7 Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups and other key excel functions is an asset.

\xc2\xb7 Marine construction experience is not required; rather construction and job costing experience is most valued
