Project Accountant

to join our Montreal team.

Role Overview:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial aspects of our projects -- from reviewing costings and ensuring targets are met, to monitoring invoicing and managing approvals for changes. This role is key to maintaining financial control and supporting project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Review project cost reports and ensure alignment with budgets and financial targets. Monitor cost variances, analyze trends, and provide timely insights to project managers and senior leadership. Review and process subcontractor and client invoicing for accuracy and compliance with contracts. Oversee change orders, ensuring financial impacts are fully captured and properly approved. Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and leadership to support effective financial decision-making. Prepare and present regular financial reports and forecasts for management. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal policies, and project controls.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation (or in progress) considered an asset. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in project accounting, ideally within construction or related industries. Strong understanding of project cost management, invoicing, and contract administration. Proficiency in accounting/project management software and Microsoft Excel. Exceptional attention to detail, with strong analytical and organizational skills. Bilingual (French and English)
