Scope of the Role:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the
Programs Manager
is responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering innovative programs, activities, and self-directed resources. This role ensures programs enrich residents' lives, align with best practices, and reflect a person-centered, emotion-based philosophy of care.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the recruitment, training and retention of the Volunteer Program as well as the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Services
Lead recruitment, training, and performance management of Programs team and volunteers
Model person-centered care while fostering a supportive, engaging team culture
Oversee payroll, staffing patterns, and departmental budgeting
Ensure compliance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards
Support quality improvement initiatives and evaluate program relevance and effectiveness
Engage families and supporters, particularly in dementia care, while balancing individualized approaches
Promote positive social interactions that enhance residents' emotional well-being
Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma/degree in recreation, leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, gerontology, kinesiology, or a related field (or equivalent)
Minimum one year of experience in health care or a related setting
Strong leadership, creativity, and organizational skills
CPR/First Aid certification
Knowledge of community resources, program development, and computer applications
Vulnerable Sector Check, TB test/chest X-ray, proof of required vaccinations, and two supervisory references
French language skills are an asset
