Job Description

The University of the Fraser Valley Student Union Society (SUS) is a BC Not-For-Profit Society representing and serving UFV students. The Society manages the Student Union Building and facilitates services such as the UFV U-PASS, food services, and the student health and dental plan. SUS also provides support to an active community by organizing events and providing wellness and developmental programming. As the official representative body of UFV students, our mission is to be an inclusive community that provides high-quality, accessible programs and services. We are the unified voice advocating on behalf of student interests in the UFV community, ensuring each student has opportunities to thrive.

Work Schedule:

37.5 hrs per week (Mon-Fri)

Contract:

Temporary Contract (Maternity Leave Cover) August 4th, 2025 - December 18th, 2026

Location:

Abbotsford Campus with occasional travel to other UFV campuses (Hope, Mission, Chilliwack CEP, and TTC)

POSITION DESCRIPTION



Are you a detail-oriented problem-solver with a passion for community and student engagement? The UFV Student Union Society is looking for a temporary Programs and Services Manager to lead the delivery of programs that support and engage UFV students.

Reporting to the Executive Director and supported by the Program and Services team, this role oversees the Health and Dental Plan, U-Pass, Campus Shuttle, and Early Eats Hot Buffet Program. They also play a strategic role in transit planning and developing student-focused programming. The portfolio includes our Student Perks Program, health& wellness, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives. Additionally, this role supports Clubs and Associations, collaborating with student leaders, university departments, and UFV Security.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, strategic, and a problem solver with a keen eye for following policies and procedures to ensure the effective delivery of offerings within this team.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES OF THE PROGRAMS & SERVICES MANAGER



The Programs and Services Manager has responsibility for a variety of functions, including but not limited to the following outlined below:

Lead the strategic alignment and long-term planning of the Program and Services Team by establishing team goals and implementing the SUS strategic plan and policies; Ensure the effective, timely delivery, quality, and evaluation of all SUS Programs and Services; Maintain a departmental budget, profile expenditure, and provide monthly reporting; Develop and maintain positive relationships with UFV and external partners related to Programs and Services development; Promote a positive and inclusive work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment; Adhere to UFV and UFV SUS bylaws, policies, and procedures; Oversee and assist in the approval of the policy and processes of Clubs and Associations; Occasional evenings may be required for events; Ability to travel between campuses; Other projects and duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



Education and Work Experience:

A University Degree or Diploma in a relevant discipline (e.g. Business, Event Coordination, Management, Social Sciences) with a . Experience in the procurement of services or contract negotiation is a strong asset.

Management Experience and Skills:

Experience managing a team with proven leadership and management skills, including performance monitoring, goal setting, and mentorship.

Project Management Experience:

Experience managing multiple projects from inception to completion.

Research Experience and Skills:

Strong research capability and experience with monitoring and evaluation.

Written Communication Skills:

Highly developed writing skills and ability to create and edit contracts and reports.

Interpersonal Communication:

Strong interpersonal communication, including the ability to provide constructive feedback to project stakeholders and communicate expectations effectively. Comfortable conducting outreach to external community partners by phone, email, and attending local events.

Event/Program Management and Coordination:

Experience with full-cycle programming; designing, promoting, and executing events and programs (both physical and virtual).

Adaptability and Judgement

: Ability to calmly and quickly adapt to changing environments, problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset, including exercising excellent judgment and decision making.

Knowledge of the University and Student Union Environment:

Knowledge of UFV campuses, including the structure of SUS and its policies, will be considered an asset.

COMPENSATION:



The is a temporary position (maternity leave) of $60,000+ per year, and a comprehensive Health & Dental benefits package. Paid time off includes three weeks (15 days) of vacation, a winter break of approximately 10 days in late December, and an additional four-day weekend in the summer. A monthly cell phone allowance is also provided.
