Established to support Canadian forestry workers and their families, the IWA-Forest Industry Pension and LTD Plans provide pension and disability benefits and rehabilitation services to members. The plans are jointly trusted by union and industry appointees.

With over $5 billion in assets, 400 participating employers and 65,000 members, the IWA-Forest Industry Pension Plan is one of Canada's top 100 pension funds and is one of the top three private sector pension funds in BC. The IWA-Forest Industry LTD Plan was created almost a decade after the pension plan and now serves over 7,500 members across western Canada.

WHO YOU ARE



The Programmer/Analyst is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the existing system applications to meet user requirements.

You will be responsible for such things as:

Design and implement system changes: Assist with Oracle database patching, upgrades, and platform migrations (on-premises or cloud); full-stack support and maintenance of Oracle-based applications running Fusion Middleware components (WLS, HTTP Server, Forms/Report, JDeveloper, ADF, OEM) and assist with development of modern web-based applications using Oracle ORDS and APEX platforms. Maintain existing programs based on user requests or on system enhancements; analyze program change requests to determine the impact and to provide recommendations Design, code and build test plans based on specifications developed from user requirements. Ensure continuous improvement is met on software development by meeting users to determine needs assessment. Implement, integrate, system test and document operating procedures for application of systems. Work with users and external resources in problem definition, analysis and development of solutions. Provide management with reasonable time estimates and progress reports on projects. Document and update system documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

YOU HAVE/ARE



Education:

Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field Oracle Certification [OCJA/OCA/OCP] is an asset but not required An equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience may be considerer
Experience

Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience with the Oracle software stack on premises or on AWS, Azure, OCI, and GCP Experience with coding standards and development methodologies based on best practices Experience in using development tools and programming languages in an Oracle database environment (PL/SQL and Oracle Developer 2000) Experience in pension administration systems or similar enterprise applications is strongly preferred
Technical skills:

Must have - SQL and PL/SQL; shell scripting (Linux, PowerShell) and development with Python, JavaScript and PHP Additional assets - database backup/recovery using RMAN; and automation and infrastructure-as-code Understanding of data modeling, relational and NoSQL database designs Ability to learn new platforms, applications, and technologies Proven ability to analyze requirements, design solutions, and troubleshoot complex technical issues
Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to anticipate issues and develop effective solutions Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and documenting technical information Demonstrated collaborative, service-oriented mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a team. High level of accuracy and thoroughness in analysis, coding, and documentation Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and execute assignments with minimal supervision

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION



Salary range is $6,184 to $7,052 per month.

This union position is part of Move-Up.
