As one of the largest timberland operators in New Brunswick and Maine, Acadian has a strong track record of success and adheres to the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship.On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Programmer Analyst to join their team in Edmundston, NB in a full-time role.The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing their systems to aid foresters and other staff in carrying out their day-to-day work. An ability to work collaboratively to develop practical solutions is essential in this role.Responsibilities:

• Developing and maintaining mobile applications that feed the FIS
• Interfacing with systems users and a Managed Service Provider to ensure computer systems are effective
• Advancing Geographic Information System (GIS) processes
• Providing interfaces to forest management tools and models on GIS and business systems and generating reports
• Working with Global Positioning System (GPS) data and attaching it to forestry data
• Overseeing GIS updates
• Identifying and implementing new and innovative ways for collecting data to reduce workloads, minimize redundant data entry, and decrease data processing errors
• Maintaining currency on technology and applications to assist staff functions while considering practicalities of the business
• Collaborating with forestry and business staff to improve and manage the Forest Information System (FIS) that supports sustainable forestry operations and business functions
• Supporting contractors which may include hardware installation
• Contributing to business development opportunities as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor\'s degree (B.Sc. Computer Science) or equivalent; or minimum of three years related experience and training
• Proficient working with Python, SQL , Visual Basic ,ASPX, JavaScript, Java, jquery, HTML, XML
• A desire to provide solutions to a wide range of users from field staff to senior management
• Ability to work with mathematical concepts
• Ability to effectively respond to requests or inquiries from internal/external customers or regulatory agencies
• Knowledge or ability to become proficient with the hardware, operating systems, SQL databases, software and programming languages used by the company
• A working knowledge of data collection and transfer from mobile devices
• A high level of flexibility in work schedules to accommodate the range of staff serviced and their various work schedules
• Ability to work in the field with forestry staff
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills
