Director, Adult Mental Health Services and takes direction from the Coordinator Social/Recreational Program.
In addition to carrying out the duties of Peer Recreation Workers, The Program
Worker will assist the Program Coordinator with program administration and cover
various tasks and duties when other staff are not available.
Hours of Work:
The Social Club is open Tuesday to Saturday for varying hours. The Program Worker will work 24 hours per week, 8 hours per day typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Some flexibility in these hours is required to accommodate program operations and coverage for planned and unplanned absences of program staff.
Mandatory Requirements:
Lived experience with mental illness preferably as a consumer of services.
Current safe food handling certification.
Eligible to work in Canada.
Fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
3 years commercial driving experience.
Valid driver's license, current personal vehicle insurance and a clean driving abstract.
Some employment experience in the social service/mental health/recreation field.
Basic understanding of the role of therapeutic recreation and its principles.

Agency Duties and Responsibilities:
Adhere to all Wendat policies, procedures and Code of Ethics.
Ensures at all times the confidentiality of client, staff and agency information.
Exhibit trustworthy behaviour in matters related to agency resources.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, reports and statistics as required by the agency.
Participate in staff meetings, agency committees and external committees, seminars, projects and training as appropriate.
Assist Coordinator with the following:
Covering for Coordinator during absences (facilitation, scheduling staff).
Ensures accurate record keeping for client and program statistics.
Creation, publication and distribution of monthly newsletter and program calendar.
Administration of all program funds (for meals, pop etc.).
Acquiring program supplies within budget (food, craft supplies etc.).
Ensures program is meeting all targets, standards and outcome measures with respect to direct service.
Completes the Ontario Common Assessment of Needs annually.
General Duties for all Team Members:
Works collaboratively with the team and responds to requests and direction from the Director, Adult Mental Health Services and Program Coordinator.
Work with team to set up workspace as needed for each activity. Restore environment after each activity.
Ensure that all activities and duties are completed (main activity, secondary activity, duty list, daily attendance).
Ensure the continued cleanliness and general good organization of the club and its property.
Check and spot clean the washrooms.
Perform all cleaning tasks as outlined on the job duty list; complete laundry as needed.
Answers the telephone as needed. Record messages, if you cannot answer a question, give the message to the coordinator.
Initiate engaging conversation 1:1 and in a group with members in a social setting.
Provide skill building activities, increase social experiences, and build supportive relationships with a meaningful, compassionate approach making sure Club Members feel welcome.
Completing member intake forms, tour of the club, activity sign up book, description of programs as needed.
Accurately and legibly complete any required documentation including attendance of club activities and transportation.
Actively promote the Clubhouse activities, describe the programs and assist members in signing up.
Ensures the safety of the Club members and security of the building and its contents.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Facilitation:
Responsible for planning and leading programs on the floor.
Work with Coordinator to determine supply needs.
Driving:
Check the messages on the transportation line. Record names on the white board, plan your route.
Safely drive the vehicles as needed to meet program and client needs following the rules of the road.
Ensure that vehicles have plenty of gas and windshield fluid (we have an account at the Shell station on Vinden Street).
Report any problems with the vehicles to the Coordinator or Director.
Load the vehicle for the most effective route, dropping people off at the closest point first and ending with the furthest point.
Ensure all seat belts are done up prior to moving the vehicle and that snow is properly cleared from the van.
Ensure that vans are tidy and locked at the end of the shift and keys are returned to designated spot.
Responsible for picking up supplies or donated items as directed by the Coordinator or Director.
Cooking :
Prepare food, meals and drinks.
Follow all safety protocols.
Ensure the kitchen is cleaned and sanitized after each shift.
Set menu monthly in collaboration with Director, Coordinator and other team members.
