What qualification are we looking for?

Post-secondary diploma in a related field
Child Care certification level 3 (Required)
Standard Child Care First Aid with CPR Level C (Willing to obtain)
Minimum 1 years of work experience in a management role
Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
3 professional references
Experience
Supervisory experience, including human resources functions such as recruitment, hiring, coaching and termination
Leadership experience (within a child care environment preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to fluently use the entire MS Office suite
Ability to act professionally in all situations, representing Kids Connection according to its core values
Able to deal with difficult situations and complaints with confidence
Excellent customer services skills
Excellent organizational, time management, verbal and written communication skills

What does this role look like at Kids Connection?
This position is responsible for the day-to-day operation of 1-2/ Daycare/Before & After School Care program sites. Responsibilities include:
Provincial Licensing Regulations
Adhere to license plan for site(s) responsible for
Ensure site compliance with all licensing regulations at all times
Review licensing standards on a quarterly basis
Participate in licensing visits/annual reviews
Resolve areas of non-compliance immediately, under the guidance of the Senior Site Director and Childcare/or Before & After School Care Program owners
Report all critical incidents to owners
Kids Connection Child Care and Child Protection Policies and Procedures
Responsible for ensuring all policies are implemented and adhered to at the program site(s).
Notify owners of any updates or concerns regarding policies
Provide any suggested updates to the owners
Participate in Kids Connection Child Protection Team, as required by owners
Place to Connect Standards and Procedures
Attend all core trainings on curriculum
Complete assigned monthly checklists as indicated
Ensure Educators are completing weekly observations on play partnering, programming and classroom environment
Review and ensure Play in Action standards are me
Ensure Educators attend core trainings; act as a mentor for Directors and Educators through role modelling curriculum standards at all times.
Healthy Child Development Curriculum
Participate in Healthy Child Development training
Adheres to all timelines set forth by Healthy Child Development Trainers
Ensure all Educators receive this training
Ensure daily programming incorporates the principles of Healthy Child Development
Communication & Relationship Development
Act as first point of contact for school administration regarding any questions, concerns or issues about the site/program.
Attend quarterly meetings with Manager and each site's administration to facilitate open and honest communication.
Work collaboratively with Licensing Officers at all time
Communicate effectively and professionally with all families, children, school staff, Kids Connection staff and the community
Ensure Kids Connection policies related to professionalism are reviewed and followed (e.g., Social Media, uniform, etc.)
Keep personal conversations to a minimum while in program with participants; ensure confidentiality in all situations
Listen to and treat all people respectfully, bearing in mind their values and background Share staff with other sites as needed Answers cell phone during shift and responds to all emails and phone messages within a 24-hour period
Support Family Support Worker in connecting with any parents who would like his/her services
Participate in coaching sessions with Manager
Provide on-the-spot coaching with Educators during program time
Consistently recognize the accomplishments of Educators
Attend all Kids Connection staff meetings
Seek to build relationships within your school, building the community to enhance program quality
Keep Senior Site Director and/or Manager informed and aware of site operations, changes, issues and any other pertinent information at all times
Attend and participate in Early Childhood Coalition meetings
Attend Parent Engagement Meetings, taking a lead role as needed
Attend other staff meetings as required
Seasonal and Summer Camp Programming
Plan and implement licensed child care seasonal and summer day camp
Assist in other Kids Connection camp programming as needed
Professional Development
Provide professional development opportunities (external and internal) for educators.
Encourage opportunities for leadership within staff team
Hold monthly staff meetings that encourage relationship building between participants, connection to the larger Kids Connection and opportunities for recognition
Seek out personal professional development opportunities through communication with Manager
Human Resources Functions
Work collaboratively with Senior Site Director and/or Manager to recruit, hire, coach and/or terminate all Educators
Schedule Educators accordingly to ensure licensing ratios are always maintained
Arrange for coverage when Educators call in sick or book vacation
Arrange for staffing if attendance numbers fluctuate through drop-in programs
Ensure staff certifications remain current and up-to-date
Provide Educators with a thorough orientation to their position and work site(s), including providing a copy of the Educator training manual
Performance management of Educators, including annual evaluations and progressive coaching, if needed. Utilize Manager for support in these functions.
Collect and verify timesheets by deadline, submitting to Manager for approval and processing
Supervise all volunteers assisting with the program, ensuring they have met all Kids Connection of Medicine Hat's requirements (e.g., training, child protection, etc)
Administrative Duties
Provide stats/information to Manager to inform board reports
Work collaboratively with Senior Site Director and/or Manager to complete accreditation reports
Ensure all program forms are up-to-date and available at all locations
Maintain records as per Licensing regulation
Other/Seasonal Duties
Re-deployment to additional Kids Connection program such as; child minding, camp programs, youth and preschool programs, events, etc.
