Job Description

Reporting to the Program Manager, Early Years and Child Care (EYCC), the Program Supervisor, Early Years and Child Care is responsible for the direct supervision of EarlyON staff and programs. The Program Supervisor also oversees some members of the EYCC team and acts as the Program Manager's designate for the EYCC administrative team in the absence of the Manager. The Program Supervisor EYCC works closely with the Program Manager to support the delivery of Early Years and Child Care initiatives within Dufferin County.

What you'll do



Frequently visit EarlyON programs to supervise staff in the daily operations and delivery of EarlyON programming in accordance with corporate and legislative requirement and standards

Designate work to be completed, assign and equalize workloads/schedules based on operational requirements

Assist staff in determining client needs and program offerings

Assess performance of the team as a whole, as well as individual staff

Responsible for scheduling coverage, approving vacation and timesheet approvals

Verify expense claims, approve out of office activity or community outreach initiatives

Establish and maintain strong working relationships across Dufferin County's early learning community, in order to gain perspectives and identify opportunities to provide programming and resources to families in the Dufferin County community

Optimize partnerships with community agencies to provide jointly facilitated EarlyON programming workshops and other community initiatives where possible

Provide rotating office coverage on behalf of the Community Services leadership team

Developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work

Implement new procedures, continuous review and updating of existing procedures/documentation/templates/business practices

Ensure promotional materials, social media updates, and EarlyON website content is accessible and visible for families

Participate in ongoing training to ensure up to date working practices for compliance with municipal and provincial requirements

Assist Program Manager EYCC in the recruitment and selection of new staff and student placements

Assist with completion of various financial and Ministry reports

Other duties as assigned

What you'll bring



Member of the College of ECE, Maintain membership of the College of Early Childhood Education in good standing and uphold its Standards of practice and Code of Ethics in all interactions

A degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, Human Services or another suitable combination of education and/or experience.

Minimum two (2) years' experience in Leadership or Supervisory role in the Human Services field

Previous customer service experience

Front line or firsthand experience working in early learning and/or child care environments

Familiarity with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)

Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills

Ability to set priorities and to work independently and efficiently to manage individual responsibilities

Knowledge of crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques

Ability to engage a wide variety of people with a high level of professionalism and courtesy

Knowledge of child growth and development specifically for children ages 0-6

Possession of a valid Driver's License, a clear drivers abstract and access to independent transportation to travel between work sites and EarlyON locations as required

Must provide clear criminal reference check including vulnerable sector screening

Suitable work from home environment including reliable high speed internet
