JOB TEXT:
Full time term contract for Program Specialist - Comprehensive School Health from September 6, 2022 to June 23, 2023.

As Program Specialist, you will be a part of the District’s Programs Leadership Team and will becommitted to furthering the District goal for student success in a safe, caring, and inclusive learningenvironment. You will be able to demonstrate a “students first” philosophy in previous experiences as ateacher and/or leadership positions.
Reporting to an Assistant Director of Education you will provide leadership to administrators andTeachers in the improvement of teaching and learning. As part of the District's Programs Team, you willfurther the goals and objectives of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and supportimproved educational opportunities through professional learning and program support. You will becommitted to staff development and the utilization of educational technology.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of Comprehensive School Health and of the diverselearning needs of students.
  • Strong understanding of educational programming with a demonstrated focus on student success.
  • A thorough understanding of the framework for Comprehensive School Health and provenexperience using it to bring about positive change in schools.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning to inform personal practice.
  • Demonstrated experiences providing instructional leadership to promote student learning andutilizing data and resources to push for continuous improvement.
  • An extensive understanding of practices that support learning. (e.g., assessment, responsiveteaching and interventions)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, teachers, parents, and stakeholdergroups.
  • Success in fostering partnerships, conflict mediation and resolution, facilitation, collaboration andconsultation.
  • Significant understanding of evidence-based, adult professional learning models.
  • A systems approach in responding to teacher learning needs and creating a learning culture isrequired for this position.
  • Proficiency with the use of technology to support professional learning.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the development of district plans, policies and practices.
  • Strong team-building, time management, analytical and problem solving skills.


Minimum Qualifications:
A Masters Degree in Education
Knowledge of the Framework for Comprehensive School Health may be considered an asset.
This position will require the use of a personal vehicle and the successful candidate to travel regionallyand provincially.
Applicants without the required qualifications may be considered in accordance with Clause 37.01 (d) ofthe provincial collective agreement.
