The Opportunity:




The Program Specialist - Safe & Healthy Communities is responsible for facilitating City of Red Deer actions related to:


Community Development which may include: Family and Community Support Services, Arts & Culture Services, Environmental Initiatives Housing & Homelessness Support Services
These positions ensure effective delivery, accountability and evaluation of programs and services funded by The City of Red Deer under contract to other orders of government in in addition to utility and tax supported initiatives and programming funded by The City of Red Deer. The Program Specialists provide facilitation and professional program and administrative consultation to individuals, groups and agencies working collaboratively to develop and promote initiatives that address current and emerging needs in the community. This position will focus on Housing and Homelessness Support Services.


As our preferred candidate, you will have:




Requires a university degree and courses specific to social issues, community development, mediation, program planning, recreation, environmental, art & culture implementation and evaluation. Requires a minimum of five years' experience, particularly in community development or programming. Considerable experience with volunteer boards and with group dynamics within organizations. Extensive knowledge of the community, various government ministries and funder mandates, programs and services an asset. Ability to make sound judgments, gather information from a variety of sources and articulate findings effectively in oral and print format. Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to public speaking effectively and high level written communication and web maintenance. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and the techniques of budget preparation.

Remuneration:




$46.43 to $49.16 per hour.


Hours of Work:




75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.


Additional Information:




The term of this position is anticipated to be approximately 10 months.
