For more information on the Department of Justice Public Safety and Security Division please visit the following link:About Our OpportunityAn exciting opportunity exists to join the Department of Justice as a Program Specialist within Public Safety and Security Division, Security Programs Section. In this role, you'll oversee the development, implementation and management of the Special Constable Program, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and initiatives relating to public safety.Primary AccountabilitiesReporting to the Manager, Security Programs, Public Safety and Security Division, as the Program Specialist you will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing a comprehensive Special Constable Program to enhance community safety, which includes establishing a legislative framework and program policy for specific roles, responsibilities, and training requirements for special constables.
• Providing professional expertise in the administration, management, and delivery of the Special Constable Program. This includes analysing relevant information and drafting briefing notes, reports, and recommendations to management.
• Conducting research and data analysis on interpreting and applying knowledge of legislation, such as jurisdictional scans, to inform program development and policy decisions.
• Synthesizing information from both internal and external sources to ensure timely and relevant information is provided to management. Supports contract and/or agreement management, communications, and implementation planning for initiatives and programs.
• Drafting correspondence in response to inquires and concerns from key stakeholders and the public. Supports senior colleagues in the development of internal and external communications.
• Maintain strong relationships with partner departments, law enforcement and service providers to facilitate effective communication and collaboration on shared mandates to ensure program effectiveness. Participation in working groups and committees may be required.

Qualifications and ExperienceTo be considered for this opportunity, you have completed a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus five (5) years of related experience in policy/program planning and development. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be consideredIn addition, you have proficiency and demonstrated capabilities in:

• Policy formulation and analysis, business and strategic planning, project management and report writing.
• Setting priorities, meeting deadlines, managing large workloads and the ability to solve complex issues and make decisions.
• Apply working knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies and procedures; and directives governing operational programs.
• Strong interpersonal skills, and a proven ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Working independently and as part of a team is essential.
• Proficiency in computer applications
