JOB TEXT:
Full time term replacement position for Program Specialist (K-12) based at the Western Regional Office in Corner Brook. Duties to commence September 6, 2022 to June 23, 2023. As Program Specialist, you will be a part of the District’s Programs Leadership Team and will be committed to furthering the District goal for student success in a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment. You will be able to demonstrate a “students first” philosophy in previous experiences as a teacher and/or leadership positions. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Education (Western) you will provide leadership to school staff in the improvement of teaching and learning. As part of the District's Program Team, you will further the goals and objectives of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District and support improved educational opportunities through professional learning and program support. You will be committed to staff development and the utilization of educational technology. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of student development and knowledge of the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Strong understanding of educational programming with a demonstrated focus on student success.
  • A thorough understanding of pedagogies and 21st century learning skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional learning to inform personal practice.
  • Demonstrated experiences providing instructional leadership to promote student learning and utilizing data and resources to push for continuous improvement.
  • An extensive understanding of practices that support learning. (e.g., assessment, responsive teaching and interventions)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, teachers, parents, and stakeholder groups.
  • Success in fostering partnerships, conflict mediation and resolution, facilitation, collaboration and consultation.
  • Significant understanding of evidence-based, adult professional learning models.
  • A systems approach in responding to teacher learning needs and creating a learning culture is required for this position.
  • Proficiency with the use of technology to support professional learning.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the development of district plans, policies and practices.
  • Strong team-building, time management, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Awareness of educational issues throughout the entire District.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Master’s Degree in Education, or other acceptable specialization relevant to the duties of this position.
  • Appropriate Teaching Methods
  • A minimum of 5 years teaching experience in the K-12 school system
  • Use of a personal vehicle and the successful candidate to travel regionally and provincially.
