Job Description


The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking a full-time, Contract (12 months) Program Officer to join its team. The incumbent will report to the Research Manager and join a productive team in one of the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading centres in treatment, research and training related to brain stimulation therapies. In addition to clinical treatment trials, the team also specializes in neurophysiology studies aimed at providing novel insights into brain function in individuals with psychiatric disorders.

The Program Officer will assist the Manager in providing mentorship and coordinating support to the research team, managing human resources, including recruitment and performance management; acting as a support for clinical research and supporting the key accountabilities listed below. Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting onboarding and training of all new research personnel on research and CAMH policies & procedures and ensuring ongoing compliance.
  • Supporting daily activities of research staff and support in the assignment of responsibilities.
  • Liaising with various CAMH departments to support centre operation such as IMG, Finance, Procurement, Human Resources and Research Services.
  • Assisting the manager with operational activities such as purchasing of equipment and supplies, arranging maintenance requests, credit card reconciliations, and invoicing.
  • Support with other administrative duties as necessary including coordinating events and scheduling team meetings, managing distribution lists and space bookings, assisting with maintaining CVs and Common CVs for scientists.
  • Assisting the manager with monitoring budgets, preparing progress reports, supporting grant submissions and budget preparation.
  • Developing Standard Operating Procedures for the center\xe2\x80\x99s projects, departmental processes, templates, and forms for projects as needed.
  • Managing research projects and coordination; assisting with REB and regulatory submissions, contract processing, tracking and reporting project milestones and deliverables.
  • Supporting research teams with quality review activities, study monitoring, preparation for monitoring visits and audits.
  • Assist with additional administrative tasks as required.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must have an Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Psychology, Health Administration or Neuroscience, with at least two (2) years of related professional experience preferably in a healthcare administration or research administration environment. Previous research or clinical service with individuals and/or families with mental health and addictions issues is necessary. In addition, the successful candidate will possess the following skills:
  • Experience developing and implementing projects and experience with change management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse variety of stakeholders including interdisciplinary research teams, clinical programs, research administrative personnel, external collaborators and sponsors.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Highly detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and good judgment and effectively work independently while supporting a fast-paced, high-functioning work environment and monitoring personal and team-level deliverables.
  • The successful candidate will have the ability to solve complex problems and recommend solutions.
  • Well-honed time management skills with the ability to efficiently multi-task and produce high-quality, accurate work while meeting deadlines, maintaining flexibility to changing priorities and remaining solution-focused.
  • Experience mentoring or liaising with staff or students for day to day operational needs.
  • Familiarity with Finance procedures, along with the ability to manage budgetary data and knowledge of human resource management practices is an asset.
  • Previous experience with submission to Research Ethics Boards and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and appropriate conduct of research in human participants is necessary.
  • Quality Assurance/Monitoring experience is an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note: This full-time, contract (12 months) position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
