Job Description


As Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Research Operations, Services and Support (ROSS) office is a central group within the CAMH Research Institute that provides administrative support to ensure that all research activities carried out at CAMH or by CAMH personnel comply with funder, governmental or institutional policies and regulations.

Position Description
The ROSS office is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Program Officer reporting to the Manager, Research Practice to support the Research Training Centre (RTC). The RTC supports the CAMH research community, with a focus on research trainees and early career researchers, in the development, implementation, and evaluation of a range of initiatives, services, and resources supporting the dynamic community of learning within CAMH. The RTC Program Officer will be an integral member of the ROSS team and will work closely with the Director of Research Training, the ROSS office, and CAMH scientists, trainees, and staff.

The RTC Program Officer will assist in providing research training, education, and resources to research trainees, staff, and scientists. The successful candidate brings educational support in the development of training for core competencies in the conduct of research across CAMH. The RTC Program Officer will also provide key support in evaluation, metrics, and reporting to evaluate training initiatives and their continued refinement. The RTC Program Officer will stay abreast of current training developments and opportunities, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and frameworks. The successful candidate will be required to provide assistance on a wide range of program related initiatives. The successful candidate will support a workplace which embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Project management for the development of novel core competency training; liaising with subject matter experts and stakeholders; supporting curriculum development
  • Programming and development of training materials including within electronic learning management systems (e.g., Moodle)
  • Administrative and organizational support for external outreach and communications, including developing and disseminating communication materials, attending and hosting meetings/events, and consulting with university and community partners
  • Developing and implementing workflows for the extraction and reporting of metrics related to equity, diversity, and inclusion, as well as trainee progress and training initiatives
  • Supporting processes including trainee recruitment, meetings, management of records, and reporting
  • Supporting internal award processes, including administration and communications
  • Assisting with other research activities and special projects, as assigned
This position will be primarily located at 33 Ursula Franklin Street.

Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or other formal post-secondary education is required
  • 2+ years of work experience in a customer service role in a public sector setting preferably in a healthcare administration or research administration environment
  • One (1) year of health science research experience is required
  • Experience with the development of training/educational materials is an asset
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated by experience drafting formal letters or mass communications
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research
  • Experience with working in an academic or healthcare environment is an asset
  • Ability to quickly find, learn and assimilate new information
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously
  • Ability to capture and articulate risk issues
  • Ability to communicate and problem-solve with a diverse variety of stakeholders and team members who may have conflicting interests and priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner

Please Note: This full-time, contract (12 months) position is NOT part of a bargaining unit
