Job Description


As Canada\xe2\x80\x99s largest mental health care provider, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health provides evidence to drive system and policy change through the implementation of innovations and novel service delivery interventions. The Research Operations, Services and Support (ROSS) Office is a central group within CAMH Research that provides administrative support to ensure that all research activities carried out at CAMH or by CAMH personnel comply with funder, governmental or institutional policies and regulations.

Position Description
The ROSS Office is seeking a full-time, contract (1 Year) Program Officer reporting to the Director, Research Practice and Policy to support the Clinical Trials Unit (CTU). The CTU supports researchers to ensure that every regulated clinical trial at CAMH is conducted to the highest quality and safety standards, adequately budgeted and staffed, and positioned for scientific success. This role will be an integral member of the ROSS team and will work closely with scientists and research staff. The role will provide support to the CTU Directors and Advisory Board in day-to-day functioning of the CTU. The successful candidate will support a workplace which embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will be required to provide assistance on a wide range of program related initiatives. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Responding to internal/external stakeholder inquiries, scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings and taking minutes
  • Reviewing applications for completion and supporting review of project feasibility, including study-specific budget review
  • Assisting in the preparation of reports and other forms of correspondence, including synthesizing relevant content
  • Liaising with internal service provider groups
  • Assisting with special projects
  • Other duties may include organizing and maintaining filing systems, databases, and human resource information and any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
This position is primarily located at 33 Ursula Franklin Street.

Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree or other formal post-secondary education is required
  • 2+ years of work experience in a customer service role in a public sector setting preferably in a healthcare administration or research administration environment
  • One (1) year of clinical research experience is required
  • Excellent communication skills demonstrated by experience drafting formal letters or mass communications
  • Exemplary attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and discretion and a genuine interest in supporting scientific research
  • Experience with working in an academic or healthcare environment is an asset
  • Ability to quickly find, learn and assimilate new information
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects simultaneously
  • Ability to capture and articulate risk issues
  • Ability to communicate and problem-solve with a diverse variety of stakeholders and team members who may have conflicting interests and priorities
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
