Summary
Manages and develops the curriculum for the Continuing Education program of Dentistry.
Interprets and applies the American Dental Association Continuing Education Recognition Program (ADA CERP) and Ordre des Dentistes du Quebec (ODQ) guidelines to the program. Ensures the program complies with all their procedures and controls and that standards are met in order to qualify for certification by ADA CERP.
Analyses and assesses what programs and courses should be included in the curriculum. Liaises with professional Dental Associations, other universities and industry specialists to ensure the program content is aligned with the needs of dental practitioners.
Keep up with market best practices by obtaining information on comparable programs at other universities and within McGill. Improve and enhance the administrative processes of the program to ensure they are effective and efficient.
Manages operations for the CDE including cancelling unproductive courses, setting pricing levels, and honorarium levels for guest speakers.
Oversees the financial performance of the program. Monitors income and finds ways to increase revenue and minimize costs as it is self-funded. Regularly advises the Dean of the programs financial status.
Develops marketing strategy. Sends promotions through emails and Facebook. Develops webinars. Publishes the course catalogue.
Prepares annual report, which includes a summary of the program's performance in terms of course content, course performance and program finances for the Dean and Provost. Presents the report to the Dean.
Manages work study students, on-call dental hygienists and assistants, physical resources and archives. Responsible for IT needs and space management to accommodate courses of varying sizes.
Resolves issues related to the program and provides advice to faculty and determines course of action. Contacts McGill counsel for legal issues to minimize McGill Dentistry exposure to litigation.
Manages educational grants sponsored by the industry (i.e. products, equipment and/or funds). Issues Letters of Agreement with sponsors to establish terms and conditions. Liaise and solicit industry sponsors for CDE events and their financial and product support.
Plans 35+ events. Ensure logistics such as dental equipment, dental materials and catering are obtained.
Prepares questions, sends surveys for each course and for the bi-annual needs-assessment to the dental community (2000+ dentists) by email, in compliance with ADA CERP guidelines.
Runs meetings, records and prepares minutes, participates in discussions and is responsible for implementing decisions for the program.
