About Night Hoops
Night Hoops is a free, mentorship-centred basketball program where youth find belonging, guidance, and skills that carry into life, school, and work. We pair the game with social-emotional learning, consistent role models, and community connection.
Our goal is simple: to create spaces where young people feel seen, supported, and capable of more than they imagined -- both on and off the court.
The Role -- People First, Always
As Program Manager, you'll be the operational and cultural heartbeat of Night Hoops. You'll oversee multiple program sites, support site coordinators and coaches, manage social media storytelling, and ensure our systems, people, and community partnerships stay strong and aligned.
Basketball is our medium -- but relationships, mentorship, and consistency are the mission.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coordination
Oversee weekly programming across multiple sites to ensure sessions are safe, welcoming, and growth-oriented
Supervise and support site coordinators and coaches; hold regular check-ins and seasonal orientations
Liaise with community centres, schools, and municipal partners to confirm gym bookings and program logistics
Ensure adherence to Night Hoops policies, risk management, and child protection procedures
Team Development & Mentorship
Foster a strong, inclusive coaching culture rooted in respect, empathy, and accountability
Lead onboarding and training for new coordinators and coaches; provide feedback and professional development opportunities
Celebrate milestones, share wins, and ensure youth and volunteers feel recognized and valued
Operations & Administration
Oversee registration, attendance tracking, media consent, and incident reports across all programs
Manage equipment inventory, snack distribution, and supply budgets
Maintain organized digital files, forms, and season reflections for reporting and evaluation
Communications & Social Media
Develop and execute a social media strategy that captures the heart of Night Hoops -- community, mentorship, and impact
Create and post content (photos, reels, stories, updates) that highlight youth achievements, partnerships, and events
Engage with followers, respond to messages, and maintain brand consistency across platforms
Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and marketing volunteers for content creation
Events & Community Engagement
Plan and deliver special events such as tournaments, guest days, and celebration nights
Build relationships with local sponsors, partners, and city representatives to strengthen community presence
Represent Night Hoops at outreach events and local collaborations
What You Bring
A genuine heart for youth and community, with an understanding that mentorship is the real win
2-3 years of experience in youth work, community recreation, education, or a similar leadership role
Experience managing small teams or volunteers
Strong organizational and communication skills -- you can juggle details while staying people-focused
Comfort with social media content creation and storytelling (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Canva, or similar digital tools
Reliable, self-directed, and comfortable working flexible hours (including evenings/weekends)
Ability to pass a criminal record check (required)
Why This Role Matters
You'll see impact every week -- a shy participant finding their voice, a team learning to trust one another, a coach stepping into leadership. You'll help shape a program that gives youth a place to belong and a reason to believe in themselves.
