Summary

Reporting to the Director, Value Delivery, the Program Manager, Value Delivery, Processing, RACE(TM) is responsible for leading the transformation of Teck's processing domain across all global operations.

The incumbent must use their expert analytical, technical, and interpersonal skills to lead a company-wide portfolio of technology initiatives, including but not limited to sophisticated analytics, data visualization, process control and automation.

They work in partnership with Teck's operations, business units, external parties and other RACE(TM) domains and teams to develop a company-wide portfolio processing strategy and implementation roadmap. Through diligent portfolio management, they ensure that initiatives are implemented and sustained, and ultimately ensure that all efforts result in demonstrated business value.

A close working relationship with RACE(TM) teams, business units and operations is vital for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • In coordination with Teck's operations, business units, and other RACE(TM) domains, develop a company-wide mining portfolio strategy and roadmap to ensure the business can meet or exceed its objectives. The portfolio scope includes all groundbreaking activities under people, process and technology.
  • Collaborating with RACE(TM) Managers of Digital, translate portfolio strategy to a digital strategy and roadmap, ensuring there is sufficient capability and capacity to deliver on targets.
  • Coordinating with RACE(TM) Renew, translate portfolio strategy to a Renew strategy and roadmap, ensuring there is sufficient lead time to scope Renew investments, and sufficient capability and capacity to deliver on targets.
  • Collaborating with RACE(TM) Empower, translate portfolio strategy to an Empower strategy and roadmap, ensuring there is sufficient lead time to scope Empower investments, and sufficient capability and capacity to deliver on targets.
  • Build, lead and mentor a team of "value delivery managers" and "deployment specialists" to implement initiatives across Teck's global operations. Ensure team has sufficient capability and capacity, by ensuring each team member has a clear development and succession plan.
  • Support the ongoing development and improvement of the processes and tools used Teck-wide in evaluating, implementing and sustaining RACE(TM) initiatives.
  • In conjunction with other RACE(TM) teams, establish and maintain processes and tools to enable management of an integrated portfolio of technology initiatives, including portfolio capacity management, risk and issue tracking and value reporting.
  • Demonstrate domain leadership across Teck, by developing and maintaining a domain communications and engagement plan that includes Senior Management Team updates, Teck internal and external articles, or informal events such as RACE(TM) lunch and learns.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years' of mining industry experience, ideally across multiple commodities in both Base Metals and Metallurgical Coal.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a mining processing management role (Superintendent or above).
  • Demonstrated experience in transformational change that encompasses solution design across people, process and technology.
  • Broad understanding of the business of mining that leads to strong and clearly articulated value propositions for strategic investments.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and an MBA (preferred)
  • Strong analytical, planning, project management and organizational skills with an ability to handle contending demands.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and empower teams and other site individuals, as well as handle third party relationships effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying software solutions within the resource industry, preferably within the mining domain.
  • Build, lead and mentor a team of Value Delivery Managers and Deployment Specialists.
  • Clear understanding and consistent record of change management in a transformation setting.
  • Significant ability to influence and harmonize with partners at various levels and departments across the business.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, written and oral.
  • Demonstrated great teammate.
  • Process focused and results oriented.
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and constantly evolving environments.
