Reporting to the Director of Primary Care, Chronic Disease Management and Urban Urgent Care in the Calgary Zone the Program Manager, Urban Urgent Care is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership, and organization over the activities of both the Sheldon Chumir Urgent Care and South Calgary Urgent Care programs in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. The Program Manager, Urban Urgent Care, with the support of site based clinical leadership teams, and in partnership with Urgent Care Site Medical Leads will be responsible for the strategic and operational planning of Urban Urgent Care Services in the Calgary Zone. The Program Manager will promote a collaborative approach to planning and decision making among key stakeholders and provide strategic direction for quality improvement, patient access, and resource allocation in alignment with Zone and Provincial AHS business goals and objectives. The Program Manager will be responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and community stakeholders in order to facilitate, support and shape the strategic vision of the Calgary Zone. In addition, this role is expected to provide clinical leadership to ensure quality care within the program areas follow the policies, procedures and goals aligned with AHS through the effective management of human, financial and physical resources of the department.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, a focus on Patient and Family Centered Care and commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, change management, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long term plans and projects and deliver customer-focused results. Demonstrated success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with multidisciplinary teams, and promoting an environment that fosters quality improvement and a culture of safety for staff and patients.
Additional Required Qualifications:

Health related undergraduate degree (clinical) plus appropriate licenses and designations. A minimum of 4-6 years in a management role ideally in a health care organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience working in a multidisciplinary and inter-professional team environment. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Strong working knowledge of the provincial health care system including demonstrated ability to build effective coalitions with internal and external partners. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead change management activities. A clear pattern of professional and personal development; strong understanding of harm reduction principles and working with vulnerable/at-risk populations.
Preferred Qualifications:

Specific skills preferred include: effective leadership skills, team player, financial management skills, clinical credibility, skills related to effective staff and stakeholder engagement and business planning/project management skills. Graduate level degree in Nursing or health field. Knowledge of the Health Professions Act, Scope of Practice and workforce optimization.
