There can be no health without mental health, making UNITE the best method for broad societal impact. It consists of three
critical and interrelated
projects on the pathway to societal impact: 1. Optimized Navigation Pathways; 2. Increased Data-driven Insights; 3. Strengthened Whole-of-System Capacity.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Principal Investigators, the Program Manager will work closely with the PIs, Research Manager and the rest of the team to ensure the timelines, budget and deliverables of the whole program are met. They will oversee the day-to-day activities of the core team and the management of all three UNITE research projects.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and milestones for UNITE initiatives. Ensure that research programs and knowledge translation activities progress and meet scientific, operational and impact goals. Translate initiative requirements developed by PIs to operational plans and processes that can be executed by UNITE team members.
Manage research staff and trainees, facilitates communication, manages task assignments and monitors progress, and supports professional development. Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and one that aligns with UNITE guiding principles.
Develop and implement systems to assess the effectiveness, outcomes, and broader impact of research initiatives. Use metrics and feedback to inform strategic decisions, improve future projects, and demonstrate value to funders and stakeholders.
Maintain detailed documentation of processes, decisions, and outputs to ensure institutional memory over the six-year timeline. Oversee version control of key documents and coordinate input from various contributors. Ensure productivity and performance-related learnings are captured in a way that is useful for scale-up or replication.
Establish and participate in effective operational governance and risk mitigation. Ensure all research activities adhere to institutional, federal, and ethical guidelines, including REB approvals, informed consent processes, and data privacy regulations.

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work from within Nova Scotia) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a recognized University with coursework completed in relevant areas (e.g., project planning and management, business, public or health administration, information management, risk management).
Management experience in operationalizing complex multi-stakeholder initiatives in health or public sector innovation.
Experience in research with a solid understanding of Good Clinical Practice in research and the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS 2).
Experience working with digital project management tools (in particular Microsoft project management tools).
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Self-directed and able to consistently take initiative and multi-task across more than one project, with a high level of attention to detail, regard for quality, accuracy and organization.
Assets
Relevant post-graduate training.
Experience working with youth and/or community partners.
Experience working with academic institutions and/or government agencies.
Interest in advancing mental health promotion and care.
Experience with sustainability planning.
Experience with workshop development, facilitation and/or coaching/leadership development.
