POSITION INFORMATION



The Program Manager will oversee ongoing delivery of the Golden Food Bank's core programs and services including Food Access, Food Recovery, and Education & Food Literacy programs. The Program Manager plays an important role in nurturing our impact within the community, fostering partnerships, and advancing our mission to provide equitable access to nutritious food and foster food literacy and food security. This position will coordinate program activities, supervise part-time support staff and volunteers, and collaborate closely with the Executive Director to support the organization's administrative, strategic, and operational objectives.

Understanding of food insecurity, poverty and systemic inequity Leadership, strategic vision, and financial understanding and decision making, keeping in-line with the organizations mission, values, strategic priorities, policies Hands on attitude to program management; willing to lead, delegate and do the work when necessary Experience in fund development, grant writing & reporting and fundraising considered an asset Strong performance management skills; set the caliber and expectation for your team to demonstrate high quality work and attention to detail Aptitude for volunteer coordination and effective delegation of tasks Excellent problem solving skills and ability to respond under pressure Self-starter committed to life-long learning Excellent relationship builder, able to connect and develop relationships with community members and collaborators

RESPONSIBILITIES


1. Program management and oversight

Oversee all aspects of Food Access, Food Recovery, and Education & Food Literacy programs, ensuring each meets its objectives, budget, and impact targets Coordinate program logistics, resources, inventory, and people capacity to ensure reliable and impactful delivery of services to the community Provide direction, feedback, and support to part-time support staff and volunteers, ensuring completion of daily tasks and adherence to policy, food safe practices, and other standard operating procedures Facilitate daily pickups of recovered food from local businesses, including management of subcontractor arrangements and growth/maintenance of food recovery partnerships Submit food orders and manage food inventory needs in collaboration with the Procurement Network Coordinator Track and report program metrics, assess outcomes, and provide recommendations for improvement Act as a key point of contact for program-related inquiries, resolving issues promptly and professionally
2. Volunteer coordination

Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers, ensuring optimal utilization of volunteer people-power Maintain volunteer schedules, track hours, and recognize contributions to foster ongoing volunteer engagement and retention Deliver volunteer orientation and training materials that align with correct operating procedures and build understanding of program goals and values
3. Administrative support & leadership

Provide administrative support to the Executive Director, including program documentation, grant reporting, data management, and other organizational needs Collaborate with the Executive Director on strategic planning, goal-setting, and program alignment with organizational priorities Develop and manage program and organizational budgets in collaboration with the Executive Director to ensure efficient use of resources Contribute regular updates to policies and procedures to enhance efficiency, consistency, and transparency across programs Help plan and participate in fundraising and community events Support the GFB's commitments in external partnership agreements and other collaborative initiatives In collaboration with team members, identify and implement strategies for addressing funding and capacity challenges Cultivate a respectful and collaborative team-oriented environment, solving problems as they arise

WORKING CONDITIONS



Reports directly to the Executive Director Has flexible weekday hours though occasional evening work may be required Must be available Monday through Thursday, with occasional evening and weekend work Will work as a member of a team as well as independently including sometimes working alone for extended periods of time Will work with diverse clientele, volunteers, and donors Requires walking, standing, sitting, repeated lifting boxes up to 50lbs, driving to pick up supplies The employee will primarily work from the Golden Food Bank Society offices

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE



Minimum 3 to 5 years experience managing staff and volunteers Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work and volunteer experience Occupational First Aid Level 1, or willingness to obtain FoodSafe Certification, or willingness to obtain Experience with Google Suite & Quickbooks Online is an asset Class 5 (or higher) British Columbia Driver's License with clean driving record

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 20 months

Pay: $27.00-$29.00 per hour
