Program Manager \xe2\x80\x93 Defense Reporting to the Vice President, Defense and Government Programs the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing program-specific strategies, for the sustainable profitability of the program(s), in line with budgetary goals and timelines. The Program Manager will be responsible for leading and coordinating effective cross-functional team efforts to include Engineering, Product Support, Quality, and Manufacturing organizations. In you Role with our Team, you will:
  • Thoroughly understands the customer\xe2\x80\x99s requirements from specifications and statements of work and addresses these requirements throughout the complete design, test, and production build process.
  • Collaborate on unique proposal plans and strategies to lead a team in fulfilling the customers\xe2\x80\x99 requirements.
  • Develop detailed business plans that achieve overall current and long-term objectives of the program/product, business unit, and division.
  • Responsible for the oversight of Defense and Government contract relationships by being the primary point of contact.
  • Balance program risks and opportunities with executable strategies to meet technical requirements and budgets.
  • Conduct thorough reviews into issues on products/programs, identify issues, develop corrective actions, communicate issues, and implement actions for next steps.
  • Identify resources needed for projects, define and assign major program roles.
  • Lead negotiations, proposal, and commercial impact phases for contractual change management throughout the program execution.
  • Create and deliver budget and schedule to key stake holders internal and external
  • Manage people who lead cross-functional program teams that are focused on the delivery of a product from design to release for customers.
Your Background: We are interested in hearing from candidates with the following:
  • 15 years of progressive experience in Project Management, with a minimum of 5 years experience as a Project Manager.
  • 6 years of experience managing defense contracts.
  • Bachelor of Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Possess a P.Eng License within the province of Ontario
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree of Business Administration.
  • Ability to track work accomplished to baseline plans and identify issues, track progress, and follow through on effective corrective actions based on data analysis and trends.
  • In depth understanding of advanced risk and opportunity management techniques and ability to apply them to programs.
  • Strong knowledge of government contracting practices and regulations regarding acquisition
  • Develop and execute detailed proposal plans and strategies
  • Lead program in customer negotiations and negotiate win-win solutions
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, tight timelines, and multiple priorities, in a fast-moving, constantly changing environment.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and within established timelines.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada.
Location and other Key Details:
  • This position will be based in Ottawa, Ontario.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
