What to expect in the role

The Team Leader of On-Call Services is responsible for managing casual staff across all programs, ensuring staff availability, and coordinating shift coverage. This role involves overseeing staff training, providing ongoing supervision, and maintaining communication with other team leaders and stakeholders. The Team Leader ensures staff are equipped with the necessary tools and skills for any coverage needs and supports staff development through feedback and training.

As the primary point of contact for On-Call services, the Team Leader is responsible for responding to urgent or emergency matters outside regular business hours. This includes managing inquiries, providing staff direction, and ensuring follow-up. The Team Leader must stay updated on safety protocols and collaborate with other team leaders on after-hours issues, providing necessary updates on incidents related to their programs.

The Team Leader fosters a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, and leading by example, empowering staff to make decisions and solve problems. They provide leadership to casual staff, ensuring proper training and support. The Team Leader also offers input on staff performance and collaborates with other team leaders. They are responsible for adhering to NAS policies, health and safety protocols, and CET (Creating Excellence Together) standards, ensuring their team does the same.

The applicant should empower staff to make decisions and solve problems within their delegated authority. The successful candidate will provide leadership and guidance to casual staff, ensuring they are properly trained and equipped for their roles. The applicant should also offer valuable input on staff performance and collaborate with other team leaders. Adherence to NAS policies, health and safety protocols, and CET standards is essential, and the applicant will ensure their team follows these standards as well.



Role and Responsibility:



Respond to staffing needs for Program Teams, facilitating the timely placement of appropriate coverage for open shifts. Ensure proper reporting and adherence to processes for incidents occurring outside of regular hours, both critical and non-critical. Initiate and manage the Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol (APRP) for reports of abuse outside regular hours, including conducting or supporting APRP interviews and collaborating with the relevant department manager to complete investigations and documentation. Conduct regular supervisions and informal check-ins with casual staff throughout the performance management cycle. Ensure casual staff meet shift requirements, monitor their availability, and address any extended unavailability or changes to their regular shift schedule. Maintain up-to-date contact information for casual staff, ensuring it is accessible to on-call or other team leaders. Ensure casual staff have access to required software and programs (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Share Vision, SharePoint) and assist with troubleshooting as needed. Set annual performance goals, provide ongoing feedback, and ensure timely completion of performance evaluations. Support staff growth and development through ongoing coaching, mentoring, and formal/informal training. Foster a culture of recognition and appreciation within the team. Empower staff to make decisions confidently within their delegated authority. Collaborate with Human Resources to address progressive discipline issues and ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, and legal obligations. Ensure that staff qualifications are up to date. Authorize leave requests and timesheets using Ceridian. Manage schedules and conduct regular onsite visits to maintain communication with staff regarding client and staff issues. Communicate regularly with other team leaders about casual staff performance and any concerns related to clients or staff. Approve and submit monthly invoices from casual staff to program site leaders within the required timeframe. Oversee the recruitment of frontline casual staff, ensuring appropriate matches for specific schedules and locations. Complete required reporting, documentation, and tracking for staff concerns, emergency situations, or incidents that occur outside of regular hours. Ensure casual staff are informed about relevant approaches and documentation on Share Vision for individuals they support, especially those they may not work with regularly. Ensure that staff complete behavior tracking on Share Vision throughout the year. Ensure all other required documentation and reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Benefits:



The starting hourly rate for this position is $29.95/hour Mileage is reimbursed at $0.50/km. Cost shared benefits will begin after 3 month's probation. This role includes 4% vacation pay plus an additional 5 flex days after the first 3 months employment.

Position Requirements:



Minimum of a Two-year Diploma or a Degree in Human Services or a related field from a recognized institution Must have a valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle with a minimum $2,000,000 third-party liability insurance by the time of hire 3-5 years of related work experience in the Human Services field 2-3 years of supervisory experience, specifically in the Human Services field Advanced computer literacy and strong reporting skills Previous work experience in a facility that supports Individuals with developmental disabilities and complex diagnoses would be preferred Acquired current mandatory training such as First Aid & CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Positive Behaviour Supports, Abuse Prevention & Response Protocol, Medication Administration Previous work experience with PDD (Persons with Developmental Disabilities) would be an asset Previous knowledge of conflict resolution and supporting staff through training, supervision, and disciplinary concern when needed Previous advisor, supervisor, and/or team leader experience would be an asset Proven experience working well on time and stress management Detail orientated as to demonstrate the ability to complete documentation and administrative tasks accurately Knowledge about community engagement and resources available to Individuals with disabilities
