Position Overview
After-School Program Leaders support the delivery of high-quality programming and positive experiences for children and youth. Working as part of the BGC South East team, they assist with planning and facilitating programs that promote the personal, social, and emotional development of participants aged 4-18+. Leaders act as positive role models who demonstrate respect, cooperation, fair play, and a supportive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and facilitate activities aligned with HIGH FIVE, BGC's Model for Success, and the four program pillars:
Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness, Physical Activity, and Education
Actively supervise and engage children and youth, encouraging fun and participation
Maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios at all times
Complete required documentation (incident/accident forms, attendance, etc.)
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized program environment
Implement fair and effective behaviour management strategies following BGC policies
Communicate with the Supervisor/Coordinator to ensure programs meet BGC standards
Attend training sessions, meetings, and professional development opportunities
Represent BGC South East positively in the community and with partners
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in or graduated from post-secondary education
Experience working with children or in a camp/program environment
Standard First Aid/CPR Level C (required)
Up-to-date immunizations: Tdap (10-year booster) and MMR
Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
HIGH FIVE PHCD certification is an asset
