Job Description

The Club operates several program locations at which a Program Leader may be employed. Dependent on the 'governing body' there may be varying program delivery models or requirements such as:

1)

Ministry of Education Legislated Before/After School Programs

- Position is responsible to assist with the execution of activities for either children 4 & 5 years of age (Kindergarten) or children 5-12 years of age (school-age) based on How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years

2)

Ministry of Tourism, Culture & Sport After School Program

-Position is responsible to assist with the execution of activities for children 5-12 years based on the MTCS After School Program framework.

3) BGCB Evening Drop-In Recreation Program-

Position is responsible to assist with the execution of activities for children 6-16 years based on the Clubs Step It Up! Philosophy.

DURATION/HOURS:

B/ASP Programs - September to June

Evening Drop-In Recreation - October to May

Hours are as per working schedule which is based on program enrolment & delivery requirements

All hours are flexible based on availability provided by candidate. Multiple shifts can be scheduled in a day (ie 12:00pm-8:00pm, 1:00pm-8:30pm, 2:45pm-8:00pm, 2:45pm-6:00pm, 7:00am-9:00am etc)

Due to the nature of the Club's business, staff cannot always be confined rigidly to a definite schedule of hours - 'flex' time WILL be required

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Delivery

Delivers program in compliance with legislative and/or best practices. Conducts daily health checks of children (if program applicable). Performs administrative tasks such as recording attendance, completing accident/incident report. Observes and assesses children's progress and behaviour to ensure programs meet identified individual and group needs. Interact with children and families in a pleasant, positive and professional manner. Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's needs, child's participation, behaviours and/or any incidents. Assist with the identification of high-risk/high-need children who may require or benefit from specialized opportunities or services.
Health and Safety

Provides an environment and program supplies that are safe and free from any hazards to children. Ensures that program areas and their equipment maintain a level of safety and in a state that reflects the high standards of the organization. Safety concerns are reported to the supervisor. Administers First Aid/CPR as necessary. Be continuously aware of children's allergies and other special nutritional and/or health conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

Degree or diploma in Child & Youth Studies, Recreation & Leisure, Social Work, Education, Social or Human Services, or equivalent education in a related field.
Related Experience:

1-2 years of experience working within a licensed childcare environment or similar.
Additional Skills:

Self-motivated and proactive, ability to multi-task, strong time management, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, creative problem-solving abilities, and strong mediation and conflict resolution skills Current First Aid/CPR (required)
Up to date vaccination documentation or medical exemptions based on Ministry requirements. High Five PHCD / QUEST2 is an asset
Working Conditions:

Position works within a climate-controlled facility, however programming requirements will require the position to conduct some job responsibilities in outdoor environments/conditions, Due to the large number of children & youth serviced the working environment can be extremely loud during peak hours of operation The environment can be fast paced and demanding - position is required to be extremely resourceful, 'think quick on their feet', manage multiply tasks and issues, able to prioritize and resolve issues effectively, thoroughly, and effectively.

Pay: $20.73-$22.28 per hour
